299ACIM: Sickness & Illness: How Much Control Do We Really Have?

The Truth About Living Podcast
I want to share today some text lifted from A Course in Miracles about the idea of sickness and how that relates to right perception as opposed to wrong perception. How do we affect something in our lives when it is seemingly outside of our control? Let’s explore this together. 8 Key Takeaways
  1. We have a hand on a lot of what happens in our lives. We create unconsciously much of the time, and we also create consciously with intention as well.
  2. A Course in Miracles teaches us that sickness is very much within our control.
  3. Abraham Hicks says that we place physical limitations on ourselves that are utterly unnecessary.
  4. According to A Course in Miracles, only perception can be sick because only perception can be wrong. Wrong perception is the wish that things be as they are not.
  5. Sickness is a sign of one’s separation from God. When you come back to being one God, sickness ceases to exist.
  6. When we think about controlling sickness, we think about medicine, science, genetics, etc. That’s how we grasp control. When we come to God, it is a moment of surrender.
  7. Sickness is also a manifestation of the ego. It’s preventing awakening. It is drawing us more into a sleep state, sleep meaning into the world of illusion.
  8. The more connected I feel, the healthier I seem to be.
Quotes “We do have power to affect change, even sickness, even pain, even things that seem like they cannot be healed.” “If you are sick, that is the manifestation of this split nature, the separation from God that many of us experience much of our lives.” Action Step If you have something you want to share around this topic, maybe experiences or insights that would be helpful, you can reach me through the contact form at TheTruthAboutLiving.com. 298FF: Snippets: A Collection of Youtube Videos: What to Do When Someone Misjudges You & Where Do Your Thoughts Come From?

Today, I would like to invite you to listen to snippets, a collection of my YouTube videos on topics that I feel would resonate here on the podcast. The videos in today’s episode have a common theme — letting our emotions and thoughts flow through us and just being aware. Sit back, relax, and enjoy! 10 Key Takeaways

  1. When you are misjudged, you can’t control the situation, but you can control how you respond to the situation or the person.
  2. You go through some stages when someone misjudges you. First, the ego pops up and manifests in your body. The manifestation can be physical and visceral. Then you will have the awareness that the ego is responding and the realization that if you let it pass, you will see the situation more clearly.
  3. Creating space is good. From there you can think more clearly about the situation.
  4. If you give yourself some time to step back from situation, you will feel the sensations move through you. When you begin to allow the emotion to move through you and you have the awareness that you’re responding with ego, other emotions can start to come in. You can start to have some serenity and acceptance about it.
  5. There’s benefit to awareness and allowing your emotions to go through rather than forgetting it and stuffing it down. Live through it and embrace it. It’s going to be replaced with a sense of peace, acceptance, and maybe even gratitude.
  6. We think we are our thoughts, but we are not our thoughts.
  7. You can attach to your thoughts, assign meaning to them, create stories, feel good or bad because of your thoughts, and take action because of them, but if you just wait, your thoughts will pass through.
  8. If you want to experience a moment of stillness and you want to quiet your thoughts for a few moments, you can ask this question: “What will my next thought be?”
  9. We can have curiosity, anticipation, stillness, and patience while we’re trying to see what the next thought will be.
  10. When you begin to grasp that you are pure presence and you have some power to still your mind, you will experience a presence within you that is you. It’s a beautiful state from which many things can emerge.
Quotes “With the space can come clarity.” “You are not your thoughts. You are something beyond thought.” Action Steps
  • The next time someone misjudges you, be aware of your emotions and allow them to go through you. Live through the experience and embrace it. Your negative emotions are going to be replaced with a sense of peace, acceptance, and maybe even gratitude.
  • When you feel that your thoughts are out of control and you need to still your mind, find a place where you can have some privacy and be free of distractions. Ask yourself question “What will my next thought be?” Don’t put too much pressure on efforting with the goal of “I’ve got to get to that moment and quiet my mind.” Be a little bit playful with it. Watch what happens.

300UP: "I Love You All the Time" A Sweet Message of Unconditional Love & Acceptance for Easy Days and Rough Days

Today’s episode is short and sweet. It is a message that I’d like to share from my family to yours. It is an invitation for you to take this message into your home when you communicate with your children or grandchildren. 3 Key Takeaways

  1. When things are not going well and there is a rough moment or times of uncertainty, “I love you all the time” can be impactful to a small child.
  2. If you use the phrase “I love you all the time” when your children are young, this will stay with them.
  3. You can make up feelings or states of being and incorporate them into the rhyme. They don’t even have to rhyme.
Quotes “There is perfection in the imperfection of being human.” “My emotions change, and as they do, my love is unchanging.” Action Step In the midst of the roller coaster of emotions that go through our lives, it can be hard to feel love. I invite you to come back into this and to simply remind your children that they’re loved all the time. Use it when times are good and use it in the aftermath of a rough time.
