The True Crime Librarian - She Has to Learn- The Sylvia Likens Case Ep 2
play

01/11/21 • 86 min

The torture and abuse Sylvia suffered in the months leading up to her death pale in comparison the last few days of her life. Branded as a prostitute is unimaginable to those who knew her best. She was like a typical teenage girl, she had crushes on boys her own age but her virtue was never in danger of being taken. Jealousy or envy fueled the matriarch and her young prodigy, both handed cards in life that were unfair. One at the later half of her prime and the other hopelessly in love with a married man who no longer wanted their relationship leaving her with a child out of wedlock. The neighborhood children and teens had no idea that those moments of entertainment when they abused and tortured Sylvia would play a role in her death and leave them to face very serious consequences. Join me tonight as we dive deeper and close out the case of Sylvia Marie Likens.

The True Crime Librarian - The Devil is in the Photograph... ep 1
play

04/26/21 • 93 min

Jodi Arias’s smiling mugshot was shown on the television around the world. The girl next door who brutally murdered her ex-boyfriend and her story as to why keeps on changing.

Jodi’s life before Travis helped mold her into the insecurities that she displayed throughout her dating life- she feared trusting that she was enough and that her heart wouldn’t get hurt but with every chance she took Jodi seemed to be the one getting hurt until she met Travis.

Travis was finding success after what seemed to be a rocky start to life- he found a Church and religion that he believed in with every fiber of his being, even when the rules seemed to be unfair. Willing to work hard he expected to have fun harder and he was a man accustomed to getting what he wanted and when an exotic looking blonde walked into his life he knew he wanted her.

A friendship began under the neon lights in the city of sin- both working for the multi-marketing firm that brought Travis out of financial struggle and Jodi was praying would be her saving grace. What kindled under the lights that night was pure unadulterated lust burning a desire so deep in the two of them neither was capable of escaping it’s flames....

The True Crime Librarian - Miss American Serial Killer: Aileen Wuornos Ep 3
play

04/18/22 • 54 min

Aileen was now a killer, her first victim Richard Mallory dead from multiple gunshot wounds, and now she has found a better way at robbing these men... kill them first- she claims self-defense in each and every victim's case but not all were out to rape and beat her.
PTSD can make the mind see and hear completely different things than what is actually going on- for Lee the repeated rapes she suffered came to a head and burst into an uncontrolled burning rage within Lee. Triggered possibly by finding herself alone with a man in the woods and her fight or flight response kicked in causing her to take the lives of David Spears, Charles "Chuck" Carskaddon, and Peter Siems but she wouldn't stop at just these men... she was going to keep killing and keep robbing them until one beat her to death or until the cops figured her out...

The True Crime Librarian - At the Hands of Their Father: The John Battaglia Jr Case ep 1
play

09/13/21 • 74 min

What happens when the man you marry, the man that father's your children does the unthinkable? Michelle Ward Ghetti couldn't imagine the monster that lay in the pit of darkness within her new husband John. He had shown her a glimpse at who he would become and she wanted no part of that but when the pregnancy stick turned blue she was left with a decision; shame her family and have the child out of wedlock or marry the man that was capable of completely terrifying her?
John Battaglia was never capable of becoming a loving husband and father, he was raised in an abusive household. Losing his mother to suicide emotionally stunted John and the only living role model taught him to put his wife in her place by any means necessary. The desire to win over a father left John insecure and mentally unstable. Anything deemed an embarrassment needed to be fixed so the father he tried to impress wouldn't shame him for it. John had no idea what it took to have a wife and family and he certainly had no idea how to handle the mental disorder he most definitely had...

Aileen and Ty meeting created tsunamis in their life together, they both loved each other (Lee would later say like sisters, however, Ty had been introduced as Lee's Wife on more than one occasion) but never the less these two were virtually inseparable from June of 1986 into 1991 when Lee would be arrested for the murder of 7 men and faced the electric chair for her crimes.

Lee desperate for love and acceptance turned her to the only person she could trust, Tyria. Lee did anything and everything to make sure Ty stayed in her life, even killing in order to support their dream bubble for as long as possible, and a wrong-place, wrong-time scenario landed Richard Mallory in a chance encounter with an angry Lee who claims to have acted in self-defense when the sex-crazed Richard went rouge and decided to rape her... per her side of the story...
