“You need to be rewired for success” - Tai Lopez

Dopamine is a substance in your brain that not only makes you feel good in general, but also confident and ambitious. But science has shown that the more that you win, the more dopamine receptors you grow. This makes you more confident and ambitious, which in turn makes you grow even more receptors.

It’s a virtuous cycle.

But it goes both ways, and this is why those who win tend to continue to win, while those who are stuck with a limiting mindset have a very difficult time breaking out of that mindset.

Your mindset might not be your fault. It could be a result of your parents, the public school system, your friends, or any number of factors. But it is holding you back.

This is why I try to show you my own success and the success of others. So that your world expands, and your mindset enlarges. As this happens, and you see the possibilities in the world, you start to win more, you grow more dopamine receptors, and the cycle begins to turn in your favor instead of against you.

And understanding of the above science is essential to being able to motivate yourself to work hard and succeed, and that is what I’m teaching you on this episode of The Tai Lopez Show!

“It’s not enough to know how to do something, you have to have the confidence, ambition, and motivation to follow through on it” - Tai Lopez

Points to Keep In Mind

  • You have to understand how to motivate yourself
  • Dopamine receptors are what make you feel good, and more importantly, confident
  • When you win, your brain grows more dopamine receptors, and when you lose, you lose dopamine receptors
  • Winning makes you more confident and more ambitious, which then makes you more ambitious, and makes you win more. It’s a virtuous cycle
  • You need to be rewired for success
  • It’s not enough to know how to do something, you have to have the confidence, ambition, and motivation to follow through on it

The Tai Lopez Show - #580 - Billionaire Naveen Jain's Ways of Learning
play

02/28/20 • 11 min

“Always stay intellectually curious” - Naveen Jain

(click to tweet)

The saying goes, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink,” to demonstrate that if someone doesn’t want or is unwilling to do something for themselves that would be good for them, there is little you can do. But if you focus your efforts instead on how you make the horse thirsty, you’ve solved the problem.

This thirst is what Naveen Jain says anyone who wants to be successful needs to cultivate. It is intellectual curiosity, and a desire to constantly learn, and it is what separates the greats, those who are super successful, from the rest.

If you want to be successful, you need to cultivate inside yourself this desire to learn. Find out how billionaire Naveen Jain learns every day, on this episode of The Tai Lopez Show!

Don’t forget, you can listen to The Tai Lopez Show on Spotify! Click “Follow” and let me know what you think!

“As an entrepreneur, your jobs is not to focus on where the world is now, but where you want it to be” - Naveen Jain

(click to tweet)

Points to Keep In Mind

  • Google everything
  • Always stay intellectually curious
  • Learn based on the future more than the present
  • As an entrepreneur, your jobs is not to focus on where the world is now, but where you want it to be
  • Instead of leading someone to water or making them drink, consider instead what would happen if you just made them thirsty
  • Intellectual curiosity is that thirst
  • Every time you read something, it’s like connecting a dot, and sometimes you don’t see the picture until the last dot
  • Think of the life of an entrepreneur as a heartbeat: When it’s smooth, you’re dead
  • The only time you fail in life is when you give up

play

The Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “Take shortcuts anytime you can, and shortcuts often mean learning from others” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) A lot of people have negative connotations around money. We hear that money is the root of all evil. And yet, money is absolutely required in order to do good in the world, to not be a burden to others, and to live a fulfilled and happy life in the modern age. Get rid of any preconceived notions you may have about any inherent evil in money. If you want to do good in the world, get rich. In addition, today I talk about how you can use mentors as shortcuts in life, why family advice is often bad, what it means to be penny-wise and dollar-foolish, and how fear can be a powerful motivator to drive you to success. “Use fear as a motivator to succeed” -Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind Quality over quantity, in everything you do Family will often have perverse incentives for their advice, built around their regrets, what they wish they had done, etc Take shortcuts anytime you can, and shortcuts often mean learning from others Many people are penny-wise and dollar-foolish, which means they’ll pay for small things that don’t help, but not things that will move the needle in their life Seek out mentors, which are one of the most powerful shortcuts in life Mentors can take the form of people, books, podcasts, or online courses Use fear as a motivator to succeed Use money to create experiences, because experiences will improve your quality of life Money is 100% necessary to having a good life. It might not be everything, but it is necessary Money is also necessary to do great good in the world “Use money to create experiences, because experiences will improve your quality of life” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet)Learn more about your ad choices. How You Can Make More Money

03/07/17 • 23 min

The Tai Lopez Show is now available on Soundcloud. Check it out here: Soundcloud.com/TaiLopezShow “You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Almost everybody would like to be making more money, if they’re completely honest with themselves. But there are so many mindset problems that people have around money, how it’s made, and how you can get more of it. Most importantly, you MUST know what motivates you, and be very clear about it. If you’re motivated by fast cars, great, use that! If you’re motivating by doing good, great, us that! With the correct motivation, you could do a lot more than you are doing, so the reality is that motivation is often a major missing piece of the puzzle. In addition, don’t make the common mistake of equating hard work with money. The hardest workers in the world are not the richest. There’s simply not a correlation. Learn how to use tools effectively, be smart, and be willing to put in the hard work. But look at the hard work as just one aspect. The input (hard work) should be minimized and the output maximized. Learn how to upgrade your mindset around money to make more of it on this episode of the Tai Lopez Show! “Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more” - Tai Lopez (click to tweet) Points to Keep In Mind You MUST know what motivates you. This is the most important Think of yourself as an investor, and study investing You can always find reasons why you don’t think you can make money, but there are also always examples of people in your circumstances that are making money The people who make the most money are simple about their motivation You will get paid according to the difficulty of the problems you solve Train yourself to keep things absolute, to keep from turning something small into a big problem Retrain your mind to see hard things as how hard they ACTUALLY are, and not more Working hard does not correlate with wealth The goal is not to maximize input, but rather to maximize output Better tools beat harder work every time If you are feeling burnt out, it’s a sign that you’re doing it wrong Learn more about your ad choices. The Tai Lopez Show - #594 - How To Find True Allies In Life
play

06/25/20 • 74 min

How many times have you been in dire need of help and the people you reached out to had amazing stories with a million reasons why they weren't able to or they forgot to or something came up? How many of those friends do see that kind of behavior from on a regular basis? How many employees? How many business partners? Who can you actually look to in your life and say "Your actions have made it clear that you really do care about me?"

Sometimes, we surround ourselves with the wrong people and don't take enough time to vet out our social circles. It's poison. Here are some things you need to know:

  • People lie. Numbers don't.
  • There's a difference between expecting someone to be perfect vs expecting someone to be competent.
  • A lot of the time, people say they love you more than they actually do love you.
  • Being cynical can cause you to have a distorted way of choosing your circle.
  • Sometimes it's not about listening to someone's words. It's about paying attention to their overall vibe.

I interviewed Ashlee Vance about his book, "Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future."

He has spent over 40 hours talking with Elon and interviewed close to 300 people for his book.

Elon is someone that personifies what people want in their own lives. He is willing to give up everything he has for something he believes in.

75% of people at one point in their lives will dream of starting something. The percentage of people that actually try is lower than that, and the amount of people that succeed is even lower.

Elon is the first person to run three companies that are worth over a billion dollars. He is also tied for the 100th richest man in the world.

From a rough upbringing in South Africa to becoming arguably one of the greatest business minds of our generation, his story resonates with anyone trying to become a successful entrepreneur.
