Guest Bio: Christian Borle
Source: littleshopnyc.comChristian Dominique Borle is a two-time Tony Award-winning actor and Broadway favorite, who was born on October 1, 1973 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the city’s famed School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University, graduated in 1995, and moved to New York City.
After appearing in a German production of The Who’s Tommy and a National Tour of West Side Story, Borle made his Broadway debut, appearing as Willard Hewitt in the 1998 Broadway adaptation of Footloose. He went on to join the ensembles of the 2000 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar and the short-lived 2002 musical Amour. His first starring role came as he assumed the role of Jimmy Smith from Gavin Creel in the Broadway premiere of Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2003. Next, he played several roles in Monty Python’s Spamalot, starred as Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde (earning his first Tony nomination in 2007) and took over as Bert in Mary Poppins in October 2009.
In 2010, he starred as Prior Walter in the off-Broadway revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes and then as Black Stache in the New York Theatre Workshop production of Peter and the Starcatcher in 2011. The latter transferred to Broadway and resulted in Borle’s first Tony Award win in 2012. He returned to Broadway to originate the role of William Shakespeare in the musical comedy Something Rotten! in 2015, winning his second Tony, and went on to star as Marvin in the 2016 revival of beloved musical Falsettos. His performance as Marvin earned him his fourth Tony nomination, whilst he had already begun performances starring as Willy Wonka in the Broadway premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory since March 28, 2017. He played his final performance in the Roald Dahl classic on January 14, 2018.
Although primarily considered a stage actor, he has also squeezed in work on both the silver and small screen, most famously starring as Tom Levitt in NBC’s Broadway-centric TV series “Smash”. In addition, he also starred in NBC’s popular live televised musicals, portraying Max Detweiler in “The Sound of Music Live!” in 2013 and Mr. Smee and George Darling in “Peter Pan Live!” in 2014.

Cr: Mark Seliger/ FOX.Acclaimed actress and singer Bellamy Young recently starred in her award-winning role as “President Mellie Grant” on Shonda Rhimes’ Peabody Award-winning series, “Scandal.” Young’s performance as the politically ambitious First-Lady-then-President earned her the 2014 Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Her film credits include Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” as well as a starring role alongside Lou Diamond Phillips in the crime thriller “The Night Stalker.” Young has appeared with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, in films such as “We Were Soldiers” and “Mission Impossible: III.” She can also be seen in several independent films, including “Bernard & Huey”; Zoe Cassavetes’ “Day Out of Days”; the Sundance favorite “The Freebie,” starring Dax Shepard; and “A Country Remedy,” which she starred in and produced. In 2020, she was the voice of “Martha Kent” in the animated feature “Superman: Man of Tomorrow.”
Young’s extensive television resume includes recurring roles on “Criminal Minds,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “CSI: Miami” and “Scrubs.” She made her television debut as “Dr. Courtney Evans” on the long-running soap opera “Another World.”
Young began her acting career on Broadway in Cy Coleman’s “The Life” and in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along.” Additional credits include the first run of Randy Newman’s “Faust” and the first run of Pulitzer-prize winning playwright Lanford Wilson’s “Book of Days.” In 2015, Young released her debut album, “Far Away So Close,” a collection of contemporary covers influenced by her North Carolina roots.
Through her philanthropic work, Young serves as the national spokesperson for the Humane Society of The United States’ campaign, The Shelter Pet Project. She also has brought awareness to the donation-based foundation Operation Blankets. During the Obama Administration, Young served as the Ambassador for The Trust for The National Mall, alongside Chelsea Clinton.
Born in the mountains of Asheville, NC, Young graduated from Yale University with dual degrees in English and theater studies. She also holds a certificate from Oxford University in England.

Recent film credits include the studio drama “The 33,” the thriller “Created Equal” and Sundance Film Festival favorite “Filly Brown,” for which he was named Best Actor at the Imagen Awards. As a director, Phillips has helmed episodes of hit series “Fear the Walking Dead,” “Longmire” and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” His novel “The Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira,” with illustrations by his wife, Yvonne, was released in October.
Originally born in the Philippines, Phillips was raised in Texas and is a graduate of University of Texas at Arlington with a B.F.A. in drama.

Guest Bio – Michael Potts:
Michael Potts is an accomplished actor of stage and screen who most recently starred alongside Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman in the Netflix film adaptation of August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Previously, he starred as the heartwarming “Mr. Hawkins” in the Tony® nominated musical The Prom. In 2018, Potts received critical praise for his role as “Joe Mott” alongside Denzel Washington in the Tony® nominated Eugene O’Neill revival The Iceman Cometh. For his role in Iceman, Potts received the distinguished “Richard Seff Award,” which is presented to veteran actors for their performances in supporting roles both on and off Broadway.
Potts is widely recognized for his role as the well-mannered yet feared assassin, “Brother Mouzone” on HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire alongside Idris Elba and Dominic West and as “Detective Maynard Gilbough” in the Emmy® Award winning HBO drama True Detective,
opposite Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
On the stage, he is known for originating the role of “Mafala Hatimbi” in the Tony® award
winning musical The Book Of Mormon. In 2015, he starred in the HBO six-hour miniseries, Show Me a Hero, co-created by David Simon (The Wire) and directed by Oscar winner Paul Haggis.
As a graduate the Yale School of Drama, Potts’ extensive theater background has afforded him
several performances on New York’s theater stages. Roles in Rent, The Tempest, Twelfth Night and Richard III garnered him the Falstaff Award for best ‘Male Supporting Performance’ and The Village Voice’s Obie Award for his portrayal in the off-Broadway production of The American Play.
He is an active supporter and contributor of the 52nd Street Project, dedicated to the creation and production of new plays for, and often by, kids between the ages of 9-18 that reside in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in New York City. The organization achieves this goal through a series of unique mentoring programs that match kids with professional theater artists.

Guest Bio: Tom Payne
Cr: Mark Seliger/ FOX.Prior to PRODIGAL SON, Tom Payne played “Jesus Monroe” in the hit cable series “The Walking Dead.” A beloved character in the comic book series, he debuted in the middle of Season Six and remained on the show through Season Nine. Previously, Payne starred on “Luck,” from creators Michael Mann and David Milch, playing the lead role of jockey “Leon Micheaux.”
Payne made his feature film debut in “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” opposite Amy Adams and Frances McDormand, and starred in the feature “The Physician,” with Stellan Skarsgard and Sir Ben Kingsley.
He also has worked extensively on U.K. television, including roles in the series “Skins,” “Waterloo Road” and “Casualty,” as well as the miniseries “Agatha Christie’s Marple.” Additional TV credits include the telefilms “Best: His Mother’s Son”; “Wuthering Heights,” opposite Tom Hardy; “Miss Marie Lloyd”; and “He Kills Coppers.”
In February 2020, he received the Discovery Award for his television work from the Savanna College of Art and Design (SCAD) at its annual aTV Festival in Atlanta, GA.
A U.K. native, Payne is a graduate of London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where he earned his B.A. in acting.

Halston Sage was seen in the final installment of the “X-Men” franchise, “Dark Phoenix,” as well as the streaming feature “The Last Summer.” On TV, she appeared in Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi adventure series, “The Orville.”
Sage starred in the thriller “You Get Me,” opposite Bella Thorne. Her additional film credits include “Before I Fall,” opposite Zoey Deutch; “People You May Know,” with Nick Thune; “Goosebumps,” opposite Jack Black; “Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse”; the critically acclaimed “Paper Towns”; Nicholas Stoller’s hit 2014 film, “Neighbors,” opposite Zac Efron and Seth Rogen; “Grown Ups 2”; “Poker Night”; Sofia Coppola’s “The Bling Ring”; and “The First Time,” from director Jonathan Kasdan.
