After a three month hiatus, The Stress Sessions is back with Series Two!
If this is your first listen to my podcast, then 'welcome'! Thanks for tuning in; it means a lot. I'm Luke and I suffer with anxiety and depression, having been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) about five or six years ago.
Since the last episode back in October, it hasn't been all plain sailing for me... in that little break, I've been busy recording lots of great podcasts for you to listen to, relate to and maybe even learn a thing or two in the process. Oh, and I've also moved house, changed jobs, have re-sought professional help about my own mental health, I think there might be a global pandemic going on... and, as I type this, am currently without internet access. To say that it's been challenging would be an understatement!
So, what fantastic guest do I have for you in week one? Well, he's a professional footballer, he's 21, contracted to Manchester City (currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers), has been capped by the Welsh national team numerous times, and suffers from mental ill-health.
I really enjoyed recording this episode because: 1) I LOVE football and 2) It was SO refreshing to chat to someone 10 years my minor in a high-profile position, playing in a predominantly masculine sport about his mental health.
So, without further avail, please welcome Matt Smith to The Stress Sessions podcast!
Oh, and if you enjoy the episode or any of the others, please share with friends, family, or anyone who you think they may help.
IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK!
------------------
On a side note, I'm not a professional in this field, nor do I claim to be. These podcasts are purely based on my own, personal experiences, and those of my guests, alongside some simple hints and tips along the way.
If you are suffering from a mental illness, there are lots of amazing charities that will be able to help you by offering professional advice. You'll be able to find these here.
Thank you

In this week's episode, I speak to Birmingham City W.F.C captain and Scotland international footballer, Christie Murray.
Having recorded this session aaaaages ago, it was lovely to listen back to my chat with Christie, who's played for lots of fantastic teams including Glasgow City, Arsenal, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Liverpool and now Birmingham City W.F.C. She's also got 66 caps for her national side, Scotland, too, and was in their squad when they travelled to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
If you enjoy the episode or any of the others, please share with friends, family, or anyone who you think they may help.
So, sit back, relax, grab a cuppa, and listen to this (slightly shorter) version of The Stress Sessions with Birmingham City W.F.C captain, Christie Murray!

This week, I was meant to be speaking to former Premier League footballer, Jermaine Pennant... but Zoom did me the dirty, it didn't record, and I've had to clutch at straws by recording a makeshift episode.. BUT FEAR NOT! You get to find out about the RIDICULOUS challenge I've set myself.
RUNNING 1,000KMS in 100 days. All in the name of mental health and sexual abuse.
Find out why I'm doing the run(s) and why you all need to put SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER in your diaries.

play

01/11/21 • 53 min

Hey hey! You're listening to Episode Two of Series Two of The Stress Sessions. This week's guest is Milton Keynes food & lifestyle blogger, Sophie Etc!
It was really interesting to chat to Sophie about the growth of her AMAZING blog, which identifies all of the best independent food and drink (and others!) in and around the Milton Keynes region, alongside her history of panic attacks, anxiety, and the ethos of working towards something that is within your control and that you can achieve.

She also gave me some pretty helpful tips of that transition period (if you're working from home) between work and evening.
So, here's The Stress Sessions with Sophie Etc!
If you enjoy this episode or any of the others, please share with friends, family, or anyone who you think they may help.
