John Mark Comer Unboxing | Live No Lies
The Story Box
10/10/21 • 44 min
John Mark Comer was born and raised in the Bay Area but has been in Portland, Oregon for many years, with his wife T and their three kids – Jude, Moses, and Sunday.
He is the founding pastor of Bridgetown Church, right in the center of the city (by Powell's Books if you've ever been to Portland). His church is built around the very simple idea of practicing the way of Jesus, together, in Portland. They believe that the way of Jesus is exactly that, a way of life.
John is also the author of six books: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, God has a Name, Garden City, Loveology, My Name is Hope, and his newest: Live No Lies.
He's currently starting a non-profit called Practicing the Way. Our aim is to create resources for discipleship and formation in local churches in post-Christian contexts. Coming in Fall 2022.

Welcome to the first-ever Story Box Podcast episode of Reflection Friday's. A new series every Friday (hopefully) hosted by Jay Fantom and maybe a special guest at some points through the series. The aim is to focus on all the things that we are grateful for during the past week. We often get so busy in our life that it's easy to forget to just stop, reflect, and be grateful for what we have. Gratitude is the key to living a successful and joy-filled life.
What are somethings you are thankful for from this past week?
This episode host Jay reflects on:
- The loss of his good friend on the 30/05/2020
- Friends and family
- Work and the ability to pay for things
- A tooth-brush, Yes it can be something so small!

Have you ever had a goal, a big dream that you were determined to make happen? I built a successful investment business and recently sold it to pursue my passion of dismissing the idea that making money is bad. Instead, we believe that good money in the hands of good people gets good things done.
“Here’s the truth: Life doesn’t have to be like this for you. Money is not bad. And good people, like you, should have more of it. Good money in the hands of good people gets good work done.”
Derrick Kinney
You’re afraidto make it.
You are afraid to make it because you worry what others will think of you and you might become someone they don’t like. You will be criticized for how you spend your money and feel pressured to live like others expect. You are concerned you will spend it all and have nothing to show for it.
You don’t know how to manage it.
You don’t know how to manage it and fear you will look foolish making bad decisions or even worse, losing it all. You feel overwhelmed by financial speak and are frustrated you can’t find a simple plan you understand. The risk is too great.
You aren’t ableto give it away.
You aren’t able to give it away because you don’t feel in control of your money and worry if you will have enough to do the things you want to do. You are concerned about being taken advantage of and if the recipient will work as hard with your money as you worked to earn it.
Derrick Kinney is here to help you!
The Good Money Good Hands Good Work podcast will empower you to make money and use it for good. Listen as Derrick Kinney interviews the world’s top professionals, authors, influencers and business leaders to inspire you to build your net worth so you can impact the world.

Be Still & Know | Jay Fantom
The Story Box
10/03/21 • 12 min
Be Still & Know That I am God.
Some people have heard about God but don’t KNOW Him Personally. There is a difference. See God already knows you but do you know Him?
This is for Christians and non-Christians too. Do you really want to know God? Do you want to spend time with him daily? Christians do you have a personal walk with Him? Do you understand and know His voice? (That’s another message for another time)
There are two parts to the verse that I believe God wants us to understand and yes I could have expanded but for the sake of time, I chose to make it as short as possible. Let's consider the first part of the verse where God says. "Be Still."
We live in a busy world, don't we? Everyone and everything is trying to grab our attention and focus every second of every day it feels like. There is very little time for our minds to switch off and yes I am speaking to myself here. I struggle even at the best of times to calm my mind and draw my attention to important things like God's world. Often times and I don’t know if this has ever happened to you I’ll be praying and then my mind will bring something to my attention.
So what does it really mean to be completely still and know God?
I hope that this video will be a blessing to someone today.
