The StickyBeak - Hare Krishna Movement - Bhakta Dasa

Hare Krishna Movement - Bhakta Dasa

12/01/20 • 51 min

The StickyBeak

This week on Dying with Mon I am just thrilled to be speaking with Brahmin Priest and the Communications Officer for ISKON Australia – Bhakta Dasa.

I knew a little bit about the Hare Krishna movement, but coming out of this conversation I have a whole new outlook.

We cover everything from the history of the movement to Hare Krishna customs and traditions, and what devotees believe happen when we die.

Just FYI, this was recorded before Victoria came out of their strict lockdown, Bhakta is based in Melbourne and there are a few references in there - so just keep that in mind.

If you are enjoying this series so far a rating and a review would be much appreciated! It helps get this little show out there and I would be SO grateful.

Happy listening!

Church of All Worlds - Oberon Zell

Hello – thank you so much for clicking on this podcast! I am SO excited to share with you episode 1 of Dying with Mon 💀

Obviously this year with the pandemic, death has been a huge subject. Even if you’ve never had someone close to you pass away, this year in particular - death has been highlighted around the world. Whether we like it or not it’s taken over our screens and our conversations. So why on earth would I dedicate an entire series to it? Well if you’re anything like me, and you find the idea of death scary or confronting – these conversations might make you feel a bit better. Or maybe you enjoy the topic and find it really interesting – either way, this series is for you. We’re going on a journey through life, death – and potentially an afterlife through the lenses of different religions and movements.

For our very first episode we sit down with the Founder of the Church of All Worlds, Oberon Zell. If you haven’t heard of him, you are certainly in for a treat. We speak about everything from starting the church in the 60’s to how his wife – Morning Glory came up with the term polyamory to describe her relationship with Oberon and their five way marriage. We also chat about past lives the afterlife and everything in between. He is an incredibly insightful guy and it was just so lovely chatting with him. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Happy listening!

White Eagle Lodge - Gay Robinson

Welcome back to another episode of Dying with Mon. I’m honored to have you on this journey with me as we explore what death means to people from different religions and movements.

As you will soon find out we had a lot of tech issues to begin with, on the day we recorded there was some pretty stormy weather around. But we persevered, and with a little help from Gay’s friend Steve we managed to record this episode – and I’m so glad we did!

If you’re like me and you’ve never heard of the White Eagle Lodge, I guarantee you are going to find this conversation absolutely fascinating. Gay was so generous with her time and just has this very calming way about her. If you find yourself feeling scared or worried about death and dying, I think this chat could give you a bit of peace of mind.
