By the time the F1 fraternity rolled into Monaco for round six in the 1992 world championship, the result of the title fight looked already decided before a car had left the pits. Nigel Mansell had won the first five races and was dominating the season.

Ligier was yet another sports car team entering the crucible of formula one and arguably one of the most successful and competitive small teams in the sport's history, made all the more impressive for doing it the French way.
