Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022 - Verstappen wins as Ferrari's hopes explode

Shannon Maybury, your host of The Race Directors podcast, is joined by F1 journalist Ed Spencer and serial podcaster Joe Spagnoli to discuss The Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Looking Back with Ed. A review Of the 1991 Canadian GP when Mansell waved away certain victory.

Link to classic teams with Joe “When a team wins in Formula 1, it’s normal to have the British, Italian, or even French national anthems blasted on the podium, but for a brief while in the 70s, you may have been lucky enough to hear ‘O Canada’. Back then, coming into new money was often enough to set up your own team, and although Lawrence Stroll has done his best by acquiring Aston Martin, it’s nowhere near as proud as a black and gold car with red maple leaves on the wings. This is the short story of a certain Wolf.”

Looking Back with Ed.

Link to classic teams with Joe. Between the high average speed, elevation and threat of rain in the Styrian hills, the Austrian Grand Prix is one of the classic venues for a chaotic race. Surprise Austrian GP wins are a common factor with Joe’s retro teams, with March in 1975 and Penske in ‘76, and this week he’s made it a hattrick with the winners from 1977, Shadow.
