How to Have Better Relationships (Lessons From Co-Living)
The Opposite of Loneliness
09/02/20 • 14 min
Thirty days into a co-living experiment, I’ve learned a thing or two about how we sabotage relationships, and how we can set ourselves up for success. In today’s episode, I go through some of the personal experiences I’ve had in the Baja house and share ways that you can avoid making some of the same mistakes.
Ultimately, we all want to feel more connected. With these simple shifts, you’ll quickly see results in yourself, and in the way you interact with the people in your life.

Co-Living: How to Create a Conscious Community w/ Sam Kern
The Opposite of Loneliness

Co-living is something I've wanted to experiment with, ever since I first heard the term. The idea of bringing together a group of people to live, work, and co-create under one shared roof sounded like a dream.
When I connected with today's guest, Sam Kern, just a few weeks ago it felt like my dreams had literally come true. From quarantine to living in community, my life changed overnight.
Today, Sam and I dive into why we're both so passionate about the concept of "conscious co-living," how we prepared as a group to create the experience, why we chose Baja, Mexico, and some of the amazing (and also scary) things that have happened since we arrived 9 days ago.
Some of the questions we answer in today's chat:
- How does co-living differ from having roommates?
- How do you find people to co-live with?
- What challenges does it present?
- What cool events have been created?
- How do you manage 8 people living under one roof?
This unique episode was recorded live from our balcony in Baja, and it's definitely one for the books. Enjoy!

“The quality of our lives is determined by the quality of our relationships.” - Esther Perel
Relationships can be the highest source of joy and the highest source of pain for so many. But why? Why do we find it so easy in the beginning to be passionate and full of desire, but so often this feeling wanes? What proactive steps can we take to ensure a lasting connection with our partner?
In today’s episode, I talk to intimacy expert, Megan Lambert about what it means to get clear on, and stay connected to our own desire, how understanding the masculine and feminine energy dynamics inside our relationships can foster deeper desire, and how relationship coaching is becoming the new normal for proactive couples who want to keep the passion alive.
Megan has studied from some of the best this world has to offer in terms of sex, intimacy, and attraction. She lives in Bali, facilitating retreats and workshops to help women and couples to become magnetic to the relationships of their dreams.
If you’ve ever craved a deeper love, or a more passionate life, this episode is for you.

Behind the Scenes of a Biracial, Trans-Cis Marriage
The Opposite of Loneliness
07/27/20 • 54 min
In this beautifully candid conversation, Danielle and Cole give us insight into the lives of a Transgender-Cisgender marriage. I’ve always been curious about subcultures that are different from my own, and I’m so grateful when people are willing to graciously educate me. In this episode, we learn about proper terminology when referring to the Transgender community, what hardships they face, and how all of this affects the inside of a once-same-sex relationship.
Whether you are male, female, non-binary, LBGTQ+, or resist labels entirely, this episode will teach you about the resilience that some individuals have been forced to cultivate, just to feel like themselves.
As a biracial couple, Cole and Danielle also face a number of other obstacles that many of us will never understand first hand. They give incredible advice about how to use your voice as both an ally and an activist for civil rights, and how to not get burnt out in the process.

How to Have a Successful Open Marriage
The Opposite of Loneliness
07/27/20 • 70 min
Over the years, I’ve become more and more exposed to a variety of alternative lifestyles, and one in particular that has continued to pop up is non-monogamy. I’ve had a lot of mixed emotions about polyamory, open relationships, etc. From judgment to awe, to gratitude, I’ve felt it all.
Sometimes I wondered, Isn’t this just a way to avoid commitment and have your cake and eat it too?
But then, on a different side of the same coin, I’ve witnessed and been a part of such beautiful connections that wouldn’t have been possible without a more open, polyamorous mindset.
Id’ find myself thinking, More love is more love. Period. But then I’d return to my monogamous ways and resign to the fact that I don’t want to share my partner. Needless to say, I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a lot of questions! And this episode begs to answer those.
In this episode, I go behind the scenes of a polyamorous, non-monogamous marriage. We cover everything from what led them to open up the relationship, what rules and agreements keep them feeling safe, what tools and practices keep them feeling connected, and why this lifestyle works for them.
The tools they share in our conversation would benefit anyone in any style of relationship. If you want to understand alternative relationship styles, and how to have a deeper connection within your relationship, no matter what your lifestyle choices are, then this episode is for you.
