Why do I love Star Wars so much? More importantly, why do I love some parts of Star Wars more than others?
Seriously, folks, this is a question for the ages. I've been a fan of Star Wars for my entire life...and that's not a short amount of time.
To delve into this question and help me on my quest, Lauren and Matt from Hops Geek News - click here to check out their awesome podcast - come along for the ride, challenging me along the way to rethink my opinions.
Will I change my mind about the prequels? Will I change their minds about The Last Jedi? Will someone tell me why The Book of Boba Fett was The Mandalorian Season 2.5?!?

082 - Full Circle with Leighton DaCosta
The Nerdy Photographer Podcast
04/21/22 • 84 min
On this episode of The Nerdy Photographer Podcast, friend of the show Leighton DaCosta returns to talk about his recent trip to WPPI, hats, why he didn't like The Batman, and coming full circle as a photographer.
This is Leighton's fifth time on the podcast. You may remember our discussions about hiring other photographers to work for you, racism in the photo industry, or arguing about the best fictional photographers.
Much like our previous discussions, we cover a lot of ground, including why he didn't like The Batman, how much we're both looking forward to Top Gun: Maverick, and setting goals. However, we spend most of our time focusing on coming full circle as a photographer. What does that mean? You will have to listen and find out!

081 - The Magic of Miniature: Discovering the Creative Potential of Toy Photography
The Nerdy Photographer Podcast
03/17/22 • 34 min
I've always been fascinated by toys and collecting. My comic book collection, my growing Funko collection, but, most of all, I had a huge collection of action figures. Setting up the figures to tell stories was so engrossing.
It's strange that I haven't gotten into toy photography, right? Well, it has interested me but I've never fully committed.
In this episode, I interview toy photographer Anthony Mattea whose collection of toy photography makes me extremely jealous. Seriously, go check out his work. The X-Men Sentinel shots and Juggernaut...*chef kiss*

Only When I Dream Fine Art Photography Exhibition
Only When I Dream is a group exhibition curated by Beth Taubner and Andrew Coningsby. The exhibition is comprised of fine art photographs, original illustrations and one video and sound installation, all of which resonate with the exhibition topic. Artists exhibiting include renowned fine art photographers Morag Patterson, Ted Leeming, Claire Rosen, Gina Glover, multi-media artist Carol Sharp along with esteemed illustrators Sam Falconer and Martin O’Neill. Only When I Dream will stimulate the viewer as we ask them to go on a multiplicity of journeys with us.
The Celtic, poet, theologian, and philosopher John O’Donohue spoke about “the invisible world” that is constantly intertwining what we are able to know, and see. This exhibition is about memories and dreams, real or fabricated.
Dreaming can be moments that crystallize yearnings, ethereal and romantic. They can be stories that we conjure tied to memories from the past, or the imagined past, therefore nostalgic and informed by memory or longings. We might experience highly sensory and visual waking or sleeping dreams where the mind and imagination travel to distant lands, or just next door. Our dreams might conjure untamed places in the physical world we have been to and long to experience again.
O’Donohue said that a dream is a sophisticated, imaginative text full of figures and drama that we send to ourselves. These concepts are explored through the multi-dimensional language and visual landscape of Only When I Dream.
Only When I Dream will be on display at the Coningsby Gallery from August 30th until September 10th of 2022 from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM. The gallery will be closed on September 4th. More information can be found at the gallery website - https://www.coningsbygallery.com/

Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
I started The Nerdy Photographer Podcast to both entertain and inform other photographers. There were so many things that I could have learned earlier in my own career but there wasn't a place to hear other photographers talking. Plus we all just need to laugh at ourselves sometimes.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
I hope listeners gain a sense of community, that they realize they are not the only ones going through the growing pains that are experienced when you try to run your own photography business. Also, I hope they laugh
Which episode should someone start with?
Hmm, I would start with episode 25 because that sets up the premise of the frame around all of the remaining shows, plus the audio is much better than the early early episodes
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
That's hard to pick. The creativity episode with Johnny Edward really stands out.
Which episode are you most proud of?
The Raiders of The Lost Camera - so much went into producing that, especially the animated version! I have since eased out of regularly creating the adventure episodes because they take so much time to do properly. I feel that one was just hitting on all cylinders, the writing, the production, etc.
What is your vision for your show?
I envision the show going well into the future, continuing to address topics that can help photographers who are either professionals or hobbyists. There's no reason to ever stop learning
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Hmm, depends on what I'm listening to. For movies, I love Film Rage. Comedy has to be We're Here to Help. History (and comedy) would be The Dollop.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
Well, I'm a photography nerd so it kind of wrote itself. I told friends both inside and outside of the photography industry the top 3 names I had come up with and they all agreed that The Nerdy Photographer seemed like it was the most accessible and encompassed what I was going for.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I have been a professional photographer for more than 20 years. I like to make people laugh. I also enjoy tacos and dogs. Not in that order or for the same reason.
