The Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich & Mike - A Metsian Podcast, Ep. 29 - Braves & Cubs Recap, PrePhillies w Greg Prince
play

06/24/19 • 132 min

At 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast is back for its 29th regular episode! Faith and Fear in Flushing's Greg Prince joins us to help recap the first two series of this 11-game road trip before the Mets honor the Miracle of '69 next weekend.Along with wrapping up the Cubs series, we'll discuss the Mets big change this past week, firing pitching coach Dave Eiland and hiring 82-year-old Phil Regan. Though the age is obviously an eyesore from a PR perspective, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders in relating to the modern pitcher and incorporating the new wave of analytics to the way he coaches a staff that has clearly underperformed. After the first 4 games with him at the helm, how do we perceive the change? The fielding has been atrocious, as they have the least amount of chances out there yet lead the NL in errors. One of the culprits has been the regression of Amed Rosario at shortstop, and they may be combatting that by getting him reps in center field. Is this just yet another example of fitting a square peg into a round hole or could Rosario actually have a future out there with no one having run away with the CF positon?Pete Alonso today broke Darryl Strawberry's rookie record with his 27th HR...and less than halfway through. He could be making a run at the ML rookie record, let alone the Mets full season HR record. Let's just continue to bask in how awesome Alonso has been. And McNeil just keeps McNeilin'. He got the day off Sunday but is hitting .342 on the season. Do we think he will make the All-Star team? And along with discussing the players to wear number 29 in Mets history, we'll reminisce on the 1969 Mets with the weekend coming up and the Cubs series reminding us of their rivalry that magical year. So, join us at 8pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

The Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich & Mike - A Metsian Podcast Memorial Day Weekend Special - Assessing the 2019 Mets
play

05/24/19 • 78 min

LIVE at 9pm ET, A Metsian Podcast Memorial Day Weekend Special is here! Once more, there isn't a shortage of places to travel on this full service podcast. On top of wrapping up the final results of the Nationals series, the heat was on Mickey Callaway entering the week after 5 straight losses. This prompted the "seal of approval" presser with Brodie Van Wagenen on Monday, while yet another flurry of Meddin' Jeff articles were written by the media, local and national alike. Just another year in the world of the Mets.Injuries have lead to some shuffling of the roster. Of course, after getting heat for a perceived lack of hustle, Robinson Cano pulls a hammy legging out a double. Of course. Rajai Davis got called up after Brandon Nimmo was placed on the IL and immediately makes his presence felt with a 3-run home run to cap off a 6-run come-from-behind inning Wednesday night. What is to be expected of him and will he stick around?Carlos Gomez has yet to truly make his presence felt with the bat though his notorious energy has been there both with on-the-field flare as well as cheerleading from the bench. He's been walking some so he hasn't been completely absent. Can he ever regain his Major League prowess?Jeez, there's even MORE to cover! Yoenis Cespedes violently broke his ankle NOT falling off a horse, but apparently stepping incorrectly in a hole on his Port St. Lucie ranch. Is it time to completely write off him ever playing another inning for this team?So much to cover, so little time! Join us at 9pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

The Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich & Mike - A Metsian Podcast, Episode #16: Taking a Bite Out of the Dog Days of Summer
play

08/17/18 • 75 min

To the dismay of some, and the satisfaction of others, the Mets stay relatively quiet at the trade deadline. This of course brings into question the organization's future plans and direction. In the meantime, fans bid farewell to bullpen closer Jeurys Familia, and to one of the team's more endearing players over the last few years, Asdrubal Cabrera. However, a few new names are changing the narrative of late at Citi Field. Austin Jackson is providing the Mets a lift in center field, while Las Vegas call-up Jeff McNeil has many wondering if the Mets have found their second baseman of the future. Also, both David Wright and Jay Bruce are on the comeback trail, while Jacob deGrom continues his bid to win the Cy Young award. And wouldn't you know, here we are in the dog days of summer, and the Mets are suddenly playing up to expectations - too late? A Metsian Podcast will touch em all. Michael Lecolant will host Thursday's evening's Metsian Podcast, and will be joined by MetsMusings.com's Gary McDonald. They'll additionally take some time to discuss the Brooklyn Cyclones, and delve into players who've worn #16 in Mets history. The show starts 8:00pm sharp, EST. Of course, you're always welcome to call and join the discussion @ 646-787-1919. #LGM
