Club Semi Finals Review - Mayo News Football Podcast 2020 E23
It's been another hectic weekend of club championship action, at the conclusion of which we're down to the finalists at Senior, Intermediate and Junior levels. In this latest edition of the Mayo News football podcast, we've got an array of voices talking about all of the weekend's action and more besides. Host Rob Murphy is back in the saddle for this bumper episode, where, together with Mayo News sports editor MIike Finnerty, they look back on all the MacHale Park action from the weekend. For the matches on Saturday evening, Mike is joined by his Mayo News colleague Ger Flanagan to review Breaffy's win over Westport and Kiltimagh's surprise victory over Hollymount/Carramore. Mike is then joined by Martin Carney for some analysis of Breaffy's win. Ger, meanwhile, catches up pitchside with Breaffy 'keeper Robbie Hennelly, while Mike gets a post-match word with Kiltimagh's full-back Donovan Cosgrove. The focus then switches to Sunday where Rob and Mike take you through the Balla/Ballinrobe IFC semi-final from their vantage point up in the near-empty stand at MacHale Park. As well as a podcast regular, Ger Flanagan is of course also co-captain of Balla and post-match he didn't need any prompting to seek out the two disconsolate Ballinrobe men to give his thoughts on his team's comeback win over them. Then it's onto the Senior semi-final between Knockmore and Ballina Stephenites, for which Rob is joined by Edwin McGreal of the Mayo News to describe how this one was won and lost. Key to the winning was the peerless Kevin McLoughlin and we hear from the Knockmore man after the game. Colm Keys of the Irish Independent was at MacHale Park for yesterday's big match and he joins the lads to give his reaction to Knockmore's win, as well as providing some thoughts on how he sees this year's winter inter-county Championship will take place. Finally, on a weekend where the Mayo GAA TV service suffered some technical difficulties we have a piece on that, in which we hear from Mayo GAA PRO Paul Cunnane. Club Finals Preview - Part 2 - Mayo News Football Podcast 2020 E24 P2
The club Championships have zipped by at a fair old clip this year, garnering way more attention than normal as they've done so due to the absence of any inter-county action this summer. In this strange Covid-induced vacuum, the club scene has blossomed, with compelling Championship contests played out at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. This action reaches a crescendo at the weekend, as the destination of the McDonnell, Sweeney and Moclair Cups are all set to be decided. This is Part 2 of 2. The Intermediate and Junior Final Preview. Over these two episodes of the Mayo News football podcast we preview the three county finals that are set to be contested at MacHale Park this weekend. Mayo News sports editor Mike Finnerty, along with his Mayo News colleagues Edwin McGreal and Ger Flanagan, look ahead to all three finals and assess where they might be won or lost. Mike also gets the views of Austin O'Malley on how the Intermediate decider between neighbours Balla and Kiltimagh might go while Sean Carey returns to the podcast to chat with Mike about the much-anticipated Senior final between Breaffy and Knockmore.
