We are re-releasing the full episode (vs Parts 1 & 2) where Katie and Hope have a heart to heart with Hope’s missionary brother, Nathan Lloyd-Jones. We learn a little about Nathan and we have real talk about the struggles of parenting. We discuss healthy ways to have conversations with children about their actions. The later half of the discussion moves to a focus on issues with teens, and how parents can persist past seemingly bad attitudes and actions. Nathan provides info on short term mission work with him in Honduras.

Tips from this episode:
As a parent, if you struggle with the ability to verbalize emotions and talk through events with your children, seek support from a more verbal partner or learn from a verbal friend how to better have these tougher conversations. Consider doing “temptation bundling” to match character building with fun activities for your children.

We continue our conversation on Type 9s, with our own Katie and Mary, and guest Jeremy McQuown. Make sure to listen to part 1 if you haven't yet heard it! You don't want to miss hearing the common traits of Enneagram Type 9.
Tips from our Type 9s: Don’t interpret a 9s lack of response as not caring. Consider that they are worn out from caring so much for others that they need some downtime to recharge. If you suspect you are parenting a 9, give them opportunities to choose and “impact the things they can impact”.
Major Quote: On a heart level with 9s, there is a longing for peace and harmony and relational connection with people that we’re going to engage in a relationship and a situation, whatever it my be, with good intentions.
How to show love to 9s: Hold space. See me. Care for my opinions and listen. Focus on what I do, not what I have not done. Helping bring peace to the environment is a loving gesture to a Type 9.

The Liberty HopeCast - Reflection and Response (R&R) for Enneagram Types 6-8
play

02/20/20 • 42 min

We sit down to discuss our response to our episodes with Types 6-8. We also read some anonymous feedback from those types.

Tips: For sure, for types less in touch with emotions, the discipline of daily journal writing forces you to slow down and get in touch with what you’re actually feeling. Yoga is also a practice that we recommend for every type. When trying to conceptualize your own type, or someone else's, remember the Enneagram number is not the whole entity of a person. Ian Cron speaks of “shades” of a color, or a “low resolution” picture.

We sit down with Personal Trainer and Health Lifestyle Coach Memphis Rashad. You don't want to miss his great advice to get into better shape and start a path towards a healthy lifestyle.
Tips from this Episode:
Reclaim: breathing, posture, nutrition, being aware of your body so it responds to training like you want it to. Eating when you’re not hungry is a way of training yourself NOT to listen to your body. If you wait to eat until you’re actually hungry, that natural process that you become more sensitive to will lead to the natural process of your transformation
4 Keys To Transformation
Drink enough high quality water
Be active daily
Eat fresh vegetables and whole foods
Get enough quality rest

The Liberty HopeCast - Part One with Dr. Russell Kennedy- Anxiety MD
play

01/08/21 • 34 min

We were beyond excited to have a conversation with Dr. Russell Kennedy, The Anxiety MD! There is so much good content in this interview that we split it into 2 parts so you can take time to really absorb the message of hope that Dr. Russ offers to those who deal with anxiety. Come back next week for Part 2!
Consider yoga and/or qigong to help reconnect mind and body. Tears are an adaptive mechanism. Listen to learn more!
Quotes:
“The healing isn’t in the explanation of it, it’s in the feeling of it, it’s in that reconnection with yourself”.
“If you don’t trust love, and that’s the only thing that heals anxiety, you’re always going to be anxious”.
“If you keep pushing it away, you’ll never get to metabolize it or process it”.
“While you see yourself as a victim, you can’t heal”.
“If you block yourself from tears, you’re really blocking yourself from healing”.
"Childhood wounding was less about individual childhood events, and more about chronic, continuous unmet needs- either unmet emotional needs or unmet safety needs. It was about wounded child parts stuck in a painful past".
