131. Your Own Dickens Christmas Carol
12/22/23 • 32 min
In this episode, we explore the concept of the three versions of ourselves - past, present, and future. The inspiration for today's episode came from watching the movie "Spirited" after Thanksgiving. This movie has a modern take on Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. The movie follows a similar storyline, where Ryan Reynold's character is visited by ghosts who try to redeem and change their ways.
To honor and appreciate our past selves. Be grateful for your past selves and acknowledge that you wouldn't be who you are without them.
We then move onto our present selves and future selves.
Overall, this episode explores the importance of honoring and appreciating each version of ourselves - past, present, and future - and I want encourage listeners to practice gratitude for their past selves and find joy in the present and hope for the future.

130. Self Care Is Not Selfish
In this episode, we explore the concept of self-care. Why it is important. Especially during this time of the year when there is often a focus on others. We draw inspiration from the example of Christ and how he prioritized self-care in order to fulfill his mission. Self-care is not just about indulging in bubble baths or other activities, but also about how we think about ourselves and fill our cup first before being able to giving to others.
We discuss the connection between self-care and self-love. Emphasizing that self-love is essential for increasing the vibration of love on the planet. By practicing self-love, we not only benefit ourselves, but also contribute to a more loving and caring world. Self-care involves cultivating thoughts and emotions about ourselves that align with the fruits of the Spirit, such as kindness, longsuffering, gentleness, and love unfeigned.
While being selfless and concerned about the needs of others is admirable, we also need to prioritize our own well-being and avoid losing ourselves in the process. It is important to find a balance between selflessness and self-care, ensuring that our acts of kindness come from a place of love rather than obligation or resentment. Being self-centered, selfish, or self-serving, on the other hand, involves a lack of consideration for others and a focus solely on personal profit or pleasure.
When we neglect our own self-care, we may start seeking validation and love from others, leading to people-pleasing, a drop in confidence, and perfectionism. By prioritizing self-care and engaging in positive thoughts and emotions about ourselves, we can avoid relying on external sources for validation and instead share love with others. This is why self-love and self-care are crucial. They allow us to generate love from within, just as Christ and our Heavenly Parents have done.

132. Work Worth Doing
There is Work Worth Doing, and maybe work that is not as important. As we are on the brink of 2024, what we originally thought our goals should be, might not be the goal that helps us achieve the most growth and change. The work worth doing might not be hitting the gym hard to achieve your weight loss goals, but rather deciding to stay home once in awhile and not workout. Real growth takes examining those well worn pathways in your brain.
Our brains love PATTERNS, even if they don't serve us very well. So, sometimes taking a look at the patterns that our lower brain defaults to can be crucial. We can focus on changing that pattern to something that will actually serve you.
Everyone's work worth doing is going to be different. So don't compare yourself to anyone else. We are all infinitely different and therefore will all have our own and different work to work on.
