EP 63 - 'Making It Count' with Von Seibert
04/25/23 • 47 min
This #TuesdayTalkWithLB I got to jump on the phone with Mississippi State baseball player, Von Seibert. We started off with Von telling me about growing up in a small town around Mobile, AL and his life revolving around baseball. We talked about injuries as a high school senior and how mentally and physically challenging that is to overcome. Von told me about going to play baseball at Pearl River Community College in South MS. We discussed the incredible level of athletes that compete at the junior college level in the state of Mississippi. Von told me about being able to take his game to the next level during his time at Pearl River. We talked about the small town feeling of a college town, especially one like Starkville, MS and how that played a role into his commitment to Mississippi State. We touched on some of the details and insights of being a college athlete, and he told me about some of the crazy things that college athletes are required to do. Then, Von told me about his second favorite sport - duck hunting. We talked about how we originally met, and Von actually was behind me in line at a boat ramp. He told me about some of his favorite duck hunting memories that stick out, and we told some stories about the fulfillment that we feel when we are in the woods. We talked about traveling to duck hunt and experience different styles of duck hunting, and getting to share that with other people. And of course, we wrapped up with some advice & Von truly lives his life through his advice.
Can't thank him enough for taking his time between baseball games to hop on the podcast! With a great head on his shoulders, I know that we will be sharing a tree in the near future! GO DAWGS!

EP 62 - 'Life is going to pass you by' with Cayley Foxworthy
#TuesdayTalkWithLB and this one I got to sit down with my college roommate and best friend, Cayley Foxworthy. She started us off by talking about growing up in Middle Tennessee with divorced parents that still get along. We talked about day dreaming and comparing our lives to those around us. Cayley told me about all the things she's learned becoming an adult, and how life always throws something at us. We explained how we are just taking it 'one day at a time'. We talked about how much we try to plan something for our lives - God has another plan. I told Cayley that 'it is what it is' and we have to learn how to deal with everything life throws at us. She told me about keeping relationships close and having important people in her life especially life throws punches. Cayley told me about attending Mississippi State University, and we told the story about how our friendship got started. We explained how we have continued to maintain such a good friendship through and after college. Cayley told me her opinion on our different personalities, and by having open communication and listening to one another our friendship has grown tremendously. We got into letting go and allowing life to flow as it does. And of course, we wrapped up with some great advice!
There is a reason, Cayley Foxworthy was my college roommate and still my best friend. I am so incredibly proud of the woman, person, daughter, employee, and friend she is. I'm so thankful for her being on the show and being in Mississippi - I'll cherish this forever.

EP 64 - 'Life within a Life' with Savannah Turner
In this episode I got to sit down with Savannah Turner from Madison, MS and an upcoming senior at Mississippi State University. I've hired Savannah for the summer (hopefully she'll stay with me during her season year) and thrown a ton of things at her, but here we are! We started out by talking about where she's from and how we met. We talked about her job with me throughout this summer and all the things she has learned even in the first week. We also talked about playing soccer since she was a kid and playing at the collegiate level. She played at Holmes Community College for a year and a half then transferred to Mississippi State to just be a student. She told me about being a student at a SEC school and the difficulties people face throughout the semesters. We talked about being transferees, and some of the things we had to learn and adapt to during that time period. She told me about some of her connections she made through junior college, and we talked about the connections she is looking forward to making. She told me about her thoughts on the first week of work with LB, and what she is looking forward to this summer. And of course, we wrapped up with some advice.
I'm so thankful for the friendship I've developed with Savannah, and I'm so excited for all the incredible things she is going to do with her life.
I can't wait to see how much she grows just this summer & hope that I'm the best influence, teacher, role model, and everything else in between.
