On this heartwarming episode of The Jar podcast, our guest is Steven DeVore, a remarkable individual with a captivating personality. We have the pleasure of meeting Steven in the cozy upstairs library of the LGBTQIA+ Center, a community resource center where real people and real conversations take place.
With his charming pioneer beard, Steven shares his experiences growing up in a loving and supportive environment. Despite his parents' divorce during his fourth-grade years and subsequent remarriages, Steven has maintained strong relationships with everyone involved.
Currently residing with his mother, Steven finds solace in this newfound opportunity to know each other as adults, discovering different aspects of their personalities, and supporting each other through their respective journeys. Steven's mother, navigating life after the loss of her husband, has found comfort and strength over the years, while Steven himself seeks the healing embrace of home following a harrowing incident where he was assaulted and nearly lost his life during a date.
Having worked in the retail business for several years, Steven has now found a career path in the pharmacy industry. However, his true passion lies in dedicating his time, energy, and enthusiasm to support various community projects and annual LGBTQIA+ events and parades. His involvement in these endeavors is a testament to his deep commitment to the community he cherishes.
Notably, last year, Steven took a transformative step towards improving his health by hiring a personal trainer at the gym. Prompted by his physician's diagnosis of being pre-diabetic, Steven embarked on a journey of weightlifting and adopting a healthier diet. The results were remarkable, as he shed a significant amount of weight and successfully averted the risk of diabetes. Alongside his physical transformation, Steven's newfound self-confidence blossomed, leading him on a beautiful journey of self-love and discovery within the gym's empowering environment.
Steven's story is truly inspiring, and his genuine and compassionate nature shines through in every conversation.
