Hi, I’m Charlie , also known as the "Healthy Home Therapist." As a holistic health coach, my focus is on helping people create toxin-free, sustainable homes. My journey into this work began when I developed an autoimmune disease that was worsened by exposure to toxic building materials. Through detoxing my environment and diet, I was able to reverse my symptoms, which inspired me to help others do the same.

In this interview at The Clean and Tidy Home Show , I shared how many household toxins come from everyday products—things like candles, cleaning detergents, fragrances, and even skincare products. These toxins can contribute to long-term health issues, including respiratory and hormone disorders. To address this, I encourage people to focus on four main areas for a healthier home: air, water, plastics, and EMF (electromagnetic field) radiation. Some simple strategies I recommend include opening windows for ventilation, using water filters, limiting plastic use in the kitchen, and cutting off Wi-Fi at night to reduce EMF exposure.

While there aren’t many regulations around household toxins, one way to identify healthier products is by looking for certifications like B Corp, which signals ethical practices. My advice is to focus on one change at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed. For instance, you might start by switching to natural cleaning products or choosing eco-friendly candles with essential oils. I cover these topics on my podcast, The Healthy Home Show, where I delve into essentials like air quality, acoustics, and EMFs, helping listeners learn how to detoxify their spaces for optimal health.

In the end, I believe that small, actionable steps—such as reducing tech use in the bedroom and choosing basic, non-toxic products over complex routines—can lead to a much healthier home environment. These gradual changes can make a significant difference in improving home health and well-being.
