You know I love a good money conversation. Money holds a lot of energy which can be expansive or restrictive. And the space in between is the tricky part.
How do you expand when there are debts to be paid? How can you grow when you feel weighed down by your financial past?
Today, we’re talking with the CEO of FinanciALLI Focused about how you can pay off debt, save, and spend, all at the same time.
In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Where to start if money feels overwhelming or unattainable
  • The common issues around money: guilt, fear & shame
  • The 4 steps to take back control of your finances, pay off debt, and start saving (or spending) without guilt or shame
  • How to prepare yourself for unexpected expenses
  • Where to start paying off your debt

FinanciALLI Focused is a financial literacy company helping people to create a flexible financial plan they can actually stick to (no deprivation here). Alli paid off over six figures of debt while still saving, investing, and buying season football tickets. Alli has helped hundreds of people pay off debt, build savings, spend on what they value, invest, and feel confident about their finances.

Look, you and I both know that we tend to put being a mom first. But sometimes we tend to get a little lost in ourselves along the way.

So, if you're feeling uninspired, if you're just feeling kind of like a blob version of yourself, this week, I want you to take your PowerbackTM️ by looking at where the power leak is within your own soul.

Now you might be thinking, ‘Laura that’s really fucking deep. How in the hell do you want me to do that?’

  • First, evaluate what makes you really happy.
  • Then evaluate what makes you really unhappy.

Are you doing enough of the things that make you happy?

And are you asking for help on the things that are completely draining your energy? Because so much of taking your PowerbackTM️ lies in simply asking for help.

My hope for you today is that you start to realize how much of the power really is in your hands! You are a magnificent human being. And you can run a business, be a mom, be a spouse and be a friend.
And it doesn't have to be in a perfectly sliced pie.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in business (and trust me, I had a front-row seat to this myself for the last decade) is undercharging. We feel BAD charging for something that comes so easy to us. So we end up not asking for what we're worth and simply dealing with the financial consequences that follow. Why? Because those consequences only affect ourselves—right? And we've somehow decided we're unworthy of requesting what others within our industry are asking for (even though we're pretty stellar at this stuff, too).

Money and I have had a complicated relationship for a long time, and it wasn’t until doing some deep work with an Executive Coach that I began to shift that relationship from toxic to abundance.

In this week’s episode, we lay down the framework on how to charge clients, collect payments, streamline finances, and utilize tools like QuickBooks to totally change your biz. (BTW, I mention a code in the episode to save you 50% off QuickBooks Online for the first 6 months—you can grab that here!)

So, if money has been a thorn in your side or you simply want to up your game... skootch on over and listen in to this week’s episode.

We tend to put the people that we admire the most, the business owners that we look up to, the role models that we strive to be, and we put them on this pedestal that feels so out of our reach that we can't possibly ever achieve their level. What we often don't realize, though, is that the only difference between what you're doing and what the people that you're admiring are doing is that they have chosen the necessary means and put in the grit behind whatever it has taken to achieve that goal.
Now, I'm not saying that you're not busting your ass, too, right? Because we all have our own ways. But if you're admiring people that have six packs and you keep thinking to yourself, "Oh, I wish I could have a six-pack. I wish I could have that," but you're not doing anything to get to that, the only difference between you and them is that they have chosen to put their health first. They have chosen to work out more. They have chosen to change their lifestyle habits. And you're also seeing an end result. You most likely are at a different part of your journey than what they are, so those things are absolutely obtainable. That six-pack is obtainable. You're just at a different part of your journey than they are.
This week, I want you to take your power back by choosing to be the person that you've convinced yourself that you can't be. Let me say that one more time: I want you to choose to be the person that you have convinced yourself that you can't be. This is not becoming someone that you look up to, but becoming your own version of what you find successful or admiring about this person. This person could very well be a future version of yourself that you can see in your mind, but feel like you can't obtain.

The opportunities that social media provides are endless for a business owner in this era.

But with such possibilities comes an influx of social media apps requiring our attention.

As a business owner looking to grow audiences on each of these apps, it is hard to keep up, so how can you really leverage social media to its full potential?

Start by undoing your social media:

  • Write down all the social media accounts you are currently using
  • Take an emotional inventory of each of them
  • Select the social media apps you would love to interact on

Once you have made this analysis, think about devoting time to the social media platforms you have selected.

You don’t have to be everywhere to be successful.

Earlier this week, we talked to Lauren about infusing simple exercises into your daily life and look, guys, I am one and the same as you. I have a lot going on on a regular basis. I'm being pulled in a lot of different directions and sometimes the thought of infusing exercise as one more thing, it's like, you know what? That's the easiest thing to not have to do. Let me just sit on the couch.
I want to tell you, I've been on this journey and if you've been following along with the podcast, you know that I love Peloton and I'm here to admit something — it sucks. But I'm going to admit it to you. So I had this amazing goal to buy this bike, right? This was something that I really wanted to do for myself. I knew that going to the gym was not my thing. There are just a hundred different reasons. So then I achieved that goal, which is amazing.
For a year I had a pretty good routine and I was working on a regular basis and you know, just doing all the great things on the Peloton and then life happened. Stuff got challenging at work. I wasn't keeping up with my home to the best of my abilities. I'm trying to invest in my mind. I'm trying to grow my business. I have a husband, I have a son, I have a family. I could keep going.
There are a lot of things that happen on a regular basis and guess what was one of the very first things to go? I stopped riding. I put on the weight I had lost. I lost the confidence I had gained. I lost my momentum and it just became easier to not do it because while I haven't been on it in a few weeks and now, in this case, a few months, why pick it back up?
This is a cycle I carry and I see that I'm being faced with right now to say, Hey, how bad do you want this? And not talking about the bike anymore because I have it. I'm talking about the growth of myself and my family and our business and our finances. To do greater things requires taking greater care of myself and I'm sitting here thinking, damn it, Laura, why are we back here? Why are we doing this again? Well, as we're growing and we get pulled in lots of directions, we are often the very first thing to go.
This week, I want you to take your power back by infusing a simple exercise into your busy schedule. I know you are busy and you know what, so am I. But you owe it to yourself to invest in your body.
Tune in to hear more!

“Be fearless!” “Do it fearlessly!” “You're a fearless leader!”
This word, this catchphrase, this mantra so to speak has been inflated and thrown at you as another level of expectation of something that you must meet. It's this ideation that to move forward you must do it without fear being present.
Then, when you do feel fearful, when you do feel nervous or scared, it's so easy to internalize because of this messaging that “maybe there's something wrong with me and I'm not doing something right” or that “I need to put off my dreams or desires until fear isn't around”.
That, my friend, is why today's Powerback® episode is called “Fuck being fearless”. Tune in to discover how you can take your power back from your fears and start to call in and draw in all the things that you keep thinking and feeling about.

  • Is it possible to be truly fearless?
  • Another ‘should’ disguised as empowerment
  • Dealing with the three things caused by the expectation of being fearless
  • Using the Powerback® Process to shift your relationship with fear
  • It’s not about being fearless, it’s about being gutsy

Starting and scaling a business takes more than just a great idea—it requires strategy, resilience, and a willingness to pivot. In this episode, we’re joined by Colin McIntosh, the Founder and CEO of Sheets & Giggles, to dive into his entrepreneurial journey and how he’s built multiple successful businesses with a mix of humor, strategy, and sustainability.

Colin shares his experiences of getting fired, pivoting into recruiting, and eventually launching a multi-million dollar sustainable bedding company, along with new ventures like SheetsResume.com and DirtCheapCompost.com. We unpack how he validates business ideas before investing money, the importance of branding and differentiation, and why focusing on traffic, conversions, and AOV (average order value) is crucial for rapid growth.

If you’re looking for insights on how to test a business idea before launching, grow a brand with humor, and build companies that balance profit with purpose, this episode is packed with valuable takeaways.

Topics Covered:

  • How Colin turned multiple job losses into entrepreneurial success
  • The unconventional way he came up with the idea for Sheets & Giggles
  • The importance of validating a business idea before investing money
  • How to build a brand that’s authentic, engaging, and memorable
  • The power of a strong brand voice and why founders should lean into their natural strengths
  • Growth strategies: traffic, conversion rates, and increasing AOV
  • Why entrepreneurs should avoid making their company their entire identity
  • How Colin is applying his business expertise to new ventures like AI-powered resume reviews and composting services

Colin’s journey proves that entrepreneurship isn’t about having the perfect plan—it’s about taking action, testing ideas, and being willing to pivot when needed. Whether you’re launching a startup, refining an existing business, or just looking for inspiration, his insights on branding, validation, and growth offer practical takeaways you can apply right now. Success doesn’t come from overthinking—it comes from going for it. So, what’s your next move?
