Gratitude has been a big part of his healing from depression and suicidal ideation.
Instead of being afraid of his sadness, once he started to understand why he felt sad, his life took a drastically different direction because he felt like he was finally off autopilot.
"I'm grateful that I had to go through the pain of wanting to committ suicide as horrible as it was (is). It's hard to say that to someone in the throes of suicidal ideation, but my personal experience has taught me to be empathetic towards that experience of which I'm very grateful for.”
