Iron deficiency and anaemia comprise to make the most common nutrient deficiency worldwide. Iron deficiency occurs on a spectrum, ranging from reduced ferritin levels, to iron deficiency to full blown anaemia. This occurs more often in athletes for a variety of reasons, all of which are discussed in the show. Iron issues can have a major effect on sports performance and general health, so management in this respect is absolutely key.
