If you want to get your own nutrition knowledge levels up to speed so you can better manage your health & performance, or if you are a trainer, coach etc. and you are looking for a course you can take part in to become certified, so you can help others better, then I would highly recommend you check out the Triage Nutrition Certification Course. Triage are industry leaders in health & fitness and set the standard for evidence based nutrition practice, they have recently created a certification course which anybody can take to level up their nutrition skills, you can check it out here.

I am always asked how I got to the position I am currently in, what courses did I do, where did I study, who did I talk to etc. There is a lot of interest in general out there in getting into the field of nutrition, and sports nutrition in particular appears to draw some of the best & brightest. Personally, to date, it has been almost a decade long journey of third level education, hard work, life lessons and above all, absolute persistence. Being a sports dietitian is a dynamic and rewarding position that smashes together the clinical rigour of dietetics with the polar extremes of human physiology. I hope this podcast helps any prospective or budding students navigate their way towards this career, should that be their aim. If you would like to work with me to get the record straight on what types of nutrition protocols would work for you, you can find me here or reach out here.

Appetite can be a tricky one, we rely on our appetite to help us guide when we should eat, however, appetite is not an impenetrable mechanisms, it can be effected and disrupted by a variety of factors, including exercise, sleep, stress and erratic eating habits. Appetite dysregulation in those with high exercise loads can result in poor eating patterns & under-fuelling, or in non-athletes can generally result in patterns of restriction & binging (leading to weight gain/inability to lose weight). If you feel like your hunger and satiety signals are a little off, then take the time to tune into this episode.
