The Strategy That Flows Naturally - Slowing Down to Speed Up: With Daniel Marcos

The Frame of Mind Coaching™ Podcast

It’s true that the world moves faster and faster, and we tend to feel the need to move as fast as we can too, just to keep up. The issue is that sometimes that isn’t such a good idea. We don’t think about our next move, through properly in our haste, and we end up getting hurt. Therefore, our business gets hurt. But we often don’t realize that the best way to solve this is by slowing down! You may be asking yourself: how is that even possible?

In this brand new episode of The Frame of Mind CoachingTM Podcast, I have the HONOR of not only talking to, but actually coaching, the amazing Daniel Marcos! Daniel is the Co-Founder and CEO at Growth Institute, a premiere online training company specialized in business growth and scaling.

Today we tackle an important issue: what could be the best strategy for when you’re trying to keep up with the world? Daniel tells me that lately he and his team feel exhausted and discouraged when their expectations are not met. And when I ask him what he has done to try and fix it, he says they change the strategy over and over again.

But that’s the trap! So I encourage Daniel to actually slow down for a moment, take a step back, sit down with his team and think “how are we thinking about this? What are the beliefs we have that are leading us to feel discouraged and tired?". That way they’ll better understand how to move forward and regain their productivity.

My Chronic Dissatisfaction - Fridays with Ferne: Episode #17

Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough? Like you weren’t as smart or talented or successful as all of the other people around you?

That is exactly the way Sabrina feels. In this episode of Fridays with Ferne, Ferne introduces a case about a woman named Sabrina who is chronically dissatisfied. Even though she works super hard, she never feels like she’s enough. After each achievement, she is happy for a single moment before being dissatisfied once again. She looks around her and sees everyone else doing incredible things and never feels like she can compare. She feels small in comparison. She doesn’t know what else she can do to get to a better place.

For me, it sounds like Sabrina has tied her value and her self-worth to her achievements. It sounds like Sabrina compares herself to many others in the world. What I would try to teach Sabrina is that her happiness and satisfaction actually have nothing to do with what she achieves. Instead, her happiness and satisfaction have to do with the story she tells about what she is and is not achieving.

Lost, Betrayed, and Heartbroken - Fridays with Ferne: Episode #18

Have you ever been betrayed by the people you love most in the world? Have you ever been left alone and heartbroken?

That’s exactly what happened to Alex. Alex and Boris had been best friends since they were six years old, and twenty years later, they are still as close as ever. Boris was there from the very beginning of Alex’s relationship with Amanda, from “I have a crush on this girl” to “I think I’m in love with her”. For three years, Alex told Boris everything. Then, one weekend, Alex invited both Boris and Amanda to a small gathering at his family cottage.

At the cottage, Alex couldn’t find either Boris or Amanda, so he went to look for them. He searched all over the house and all the way around it, when he finally entered his parent’s room. There, he finds Boris and Amanda cheating on his parent’s bed... Alex is devastated; he doesn’t understand how he could have been betrayed by the only two people he ever loved that weren’t family.

My advice to Alex is to move on. Of course, it’s a lot easier said than done, but these people do not deserve his time or attention. He needs to cut both Boris and Amanda out of his life and take time to recover. He needs to come to a place of internal peace where he does not blame himself for the actions of others.

What would YOU do if you were in Alex’s position?
