Have you ever struggled with anxiety? What about anxiety caused by having a conversation and anticipating how that conversation would go? Well, my guest has.
Today I’d like to introduce to you Joel Clelland. Joel is the CEO at Centric, an innovative dual-token digital currency company focused on the global adoption and use of cryptocurrency. In this thrilling conversation, Joel tells me that he feels like he’s struggling with the conversation side of business. What he means is that when he has to speak in public, he tends to really dissect what he’s going to say beforehand, and pays attention to his words and intentions. But when the time comes to actually speak, Joel gets nervous and sometimes ends up missing information or saying the wrong thing, when all he wants to do is spread his message. To help Joel, I recommend following the Five Coaching Steps, all the way to encapsulation, which will ultimately help him say the right words and reach the connections he’s after.
In addition, Joel also struggles with anxiety. Before meetings, before conferences, before a webinar. But it mostly comes from his fear of missing something when speaking. That makes Joel feel uncomfortable. And that’s okay! What I say to him is that he should play it out so it fails. “But what does that mean, Kim?” Well, anxiety comes from fearing the worst, right? So if we imagine what the worst-case scenario could be, then we can imagine recovery, and when we do, then we can start focusing on success.

My Employees Are Incompetent - Fridays with Ferne: Episode #26
Have you ever had a boss that was constantly frustrated with you no matter how hard you tried? Have you ever had a boss that always expected better and was never satisfied?
CJ is that boss. While CJ is brilliant and driven, he feels like his team is incompetent and full of weak links. He doesn’t know how to work with them. If he were in their shoes, he would run with the ideas he gives them, but none of his team is smart enough. CJ is constantly disappointed in them. He keeps thinking that one day they’ll get better, but they don’t. CJ feels stuck. He doesn’t know how to improve his team.
According to Kim, if CJ wants his team to improve, he needs to learn how to help them. By getting angry and frustrated, he doesn’t help them grow. CJ needs to understand why his employees think a certain way and help them acknowledge what is stopping them from getting where they want to be. In other words, CJ needs to learn how to coach; it will help him dramatically in becoming a better leader.

How To Date Visionaries In The Business World: With Adam Kaplan
Finding a partner can be a difficult thing to achieve, especially when it comes to your business. Surely you’ve asked yourself before: How do I find a good partner?
For our last episode of 2021, I want you to meet my guest. His name is Adam Kaplan and he is COO at Kapsarino Consulting. As an integrator, Adam comes to the show with that exact challenge. He wants to find a good visionary to “date" before agreeing to anything more permanent, and he’s struggling with that. As much as he tries, he can’t seem to find the one that brings to the table what he needs.
From my point of view, what Adam needs to do to finally stop the search is pick the visionaries with whom he thinks a potential partnership could work and give them a small project to tackle. That way he can see their strengths and weaknesses clearly. And that way, he’ll be able to choose the right partner for his company.
