165: Running Around the World with Dean Karnazes
01/05/17 • 51 min
Dean Karnazes is back to share his latest journeys to Haiti, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Dean’s experiences in these countries are through the lens of a sports ambassador this time, which is an all-new experience for him! He hopes that this is just the beginning of his goal to run a marathon in every country in the world in one year. Dean talks about his latest book, The Road to Sparta: Reliving the Ancient Battle and Epic Run That Inspired the World's Greatest Footrace, debunks a big myth about the marathon distance, shares his experiences running in Wisconsin, explains what could be a challenge in the quest to “run the world,” and what he would recommend for someone wanting to follow their passion and work in the running industry. Serena Marie, RD, discusses why what runners eat is so important because of oxidative stress that they put on their bodies. She also highlights what foods to focus on for fuel.
Also, it’s that time of year when we all make resolutions and goals. One of the best ways to achieve your goal is to be a part of a group. Research shows that many people learn best from each other. Here at The Running Lifestyle Show, we would like to offer you a special Coaching and Accountability Goals group exclusively for listeners only. The group will include four weeks of a weekly online meeting with Kari, plus members will be paired up with accountability partners. The price is $100, and the group is capped at ten participants total. E-mail Kari at [email protected] for more information or to sign up!
