Martin was a Commissioned Officer in HM Parachute Regiment, but was medically discharged after career ending injuries sustained leading soldiers on operations in the Middle East. A former athlete on British Disabled ski team he represented GB in the International Paralympic Committee World Championships and in international races achieving numerous podium finishes.
