273: Laughlin Ranch, The Summit, Dan's in Frisco and The VGN Major is this weekend
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
05/01/24 • 75 min
We're all over the map in this week's show!
Matt and Joe headed south of Vegas to Bullhead City to play the very underrated Laughlin Ranch Golf Club. It's a hidden gem in the desert Southwest, and we talked about our day there.
Dan is in Frisco, Texas, caddying in the PGA Professionals Championship. He shared details about the new PGA Headquarters and the courses he's been looping around the past few days.
https://www.pgamediacenter.com/events/2024-pga-professional-championship
Shoutout to Kyle Mendoza, who is playing great and has an opportunity to return to the PGA Championship in Valhalla.
Joe had himself a day getting the uber-exclusive invite to one of the most sought-after tee times in Vegas. He spent Tuesday walking The Summit, a Discovery Property in Vegas in the western part of the valley. The Fazio design course is a gem, and Joe talked about the round.
Jeremy, in the meantime, has been in Miami chugging Cuban Espresso, so who knows when he'll be back!
Matty G. let us know what the weather has in store for everyone playing at Reflection Bay this Saturday for the first Major of the Vegas Golf Network season.
And then we went sideways to wrap up the show. Lol
Thanks again for tuning in, and if you could do us a favor by liking the show and even leaving a review, we'd greatly appreciate it!

220: PGA Championship Caddy Todd Hass joins us
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
05/24/23 • 64 min
EPISODE 220
Fresh off his recent adventure caddying for PGA Professional Colin Inglis at the PGA Championship, PNW Golf Guru Todd Hass joined us to talk about his week in Rochester and what it was like inside the ropes and the fairways of a Major golf championship!
For those who don't know Todd, he's one of us. A passionate golfer that grinds it out just like most of us and is quite the gearhead. Hearing his take on the event was a blast, and we think everyone will really enjoy this one.
The Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play event is in Vegas this week at Shadow Creek! We're hoping our media credintials arrive soon so we can get out there and have some coverage for all of you.
We've caught Birdies and Bourbon in the One and Done Challenge. Well, almost. Let's say we closed the gap considerably!
The Charles Schwab Challenge tee's it up this week in Texas! We covered the odds and made out picks for the tournament.
Thanks again to Todd for coming on the show. It was amazing hearing his stories and stresses about caddying in a Major. We're looking to have Colin on in the future as well!

219: Rohrs is back! The VGN in Mesquite and its PGA Championship week!
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
05/17/23 • 60 min
EPISODE 219
It's been a long time since we've had Rohrs on the show. He's had some pretty dramatic life-changing experiences and is now living and working for TaylorMade Golf in Naples, FL.
Rohrs chimes in later in the show because we had some business to take care of before we got to the PGA Championship talk.
The Vegas Golf Network held this month's tournament at Conestoga Golf Club in Mesquite, NV. The course was a challenge, and we had 47 players show up to take on ye ole wagon wheel. The wind got us late, but it was a great event and an even better venue.
The renovated Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY, hosts the 2023 PGA Championship this week. Honestly, we're all pretty excited to watch this one, and we didn't really do a deep dive into the history of the course or the event. We did cover the odds and made our picks at the end of the show, but no major in-depth discussion this go around.
Rohrs surprised us with what he thinks has been the biggest surprise from TaylorMade Golf this season, and we had some fun talking about his career hole in ones made number. It's still growing, and recently.
Big shout out to Rohrs for hopping in with us late into the night out n Florida. It was great having him back on the show.
Thanks for listening, and we'll be back next week!

214: Masters Recap with Cyrus Janssen
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
04/12/23 • 86 min
EPISODE 214
Well, that was entertaining, to say the least! The 2023 Masters had it all, slow play, weather delays, a PGA/LIV showdown, and the strangest accumulation of no animosity between the players from both leagues.
I'm sure there were a lot of people, present company included, that believed there would be some fireworks. But we're starting to think the drama is more media-driven than anything else. The players were casual, non-combatant, and pretty damn nice regarding their time on TV and radio when addressing the opposing leagues.
Rahm got the win, Brooks got some much-needed TV Time, and Phil made a run for the ages, literally. Tiger had to WD, Freddy broke Leatherface's record, and Rory decided two days was plenty in Georgia.
We had Cyrus Janssen join us for this recap, and it was a pleasure, as always, to have him on the show.
We did have some Vegas Golf Network chat as we're gearing up for our first Major of the season, and Matt Gontarek gave us the weekend FOREcast for this important tourney out at Paiute!

Episode 164
Part 2 of our preview of the Bandon Solstice. We were hoping Scott Dunlop, who is a caddy out at Bandon, was going to join us, but he caught a late bag and made a second loop. So it was just Joe and I talking about the preparations we're making as we get ready to head off the Solstice next weekend!

41: Golf Talk with David Rhoden & Ava Lourenco
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
05/14/20 • 86 min
Episode 41 - May 14th, 2020 -
It's been a while since we've had a good round table golf sit down. I love talking golf just as much as the next guy or gal! So when Doc (David Rhoden) offered to come and hang out at the casa and chat some golf, I jumped at the opportunity. Even better was the fact he had his amazing girlfriend, Ava. Ava is an aspiring golfer that has some serious talent. She's getting back to competition golf, and with the recent news that Doc is leaving Las Vegas and Club Champion, and is heading back to the Phoenix valley with Ava, her support team just got a massive boost.
Ladies, if you like having your side of the golf game talked about, this one is for you. Ava has some incredible insight into the women's game, and it was an absolute blast having her on the show. Doc as well, haha! Thanks for tuning in, and I hope you enjoy this episode, it was a lot of fun, and I think Ava will have to be a regular guest! David Rohden aka "Doc": @dr.rhoden Ava Lourenco: @ava_lourenco
Thanks again for all the support from these two! Doc will be missed tremendously, and he's a massive part of why I decided to get into club building. His knowledge is remarkable, and I'm honored to be his friend. It looks like some Phoenix trips are certainly in my future!

9: Our talks continue in part 2; Club Champion and a MyGolfSpy Rant
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
07/11/19 • 53 min
Episode 9 - July 11th, 2019 -
The show goes on with some Club Champion talks and MyGolfSpy The second part to episode 7 opens up with our first Voice Mail message. It’s a creepy one. Then we dive back into the Stability Putter and the new flat stick from TRU2. Club Champion and getting fit correctly Both of us have spent a little time at the new Las Vegas Club Champion, and we are both fans of what they are doing there. The fitting process can be an uneasy experience if it’s not done correctly and we talk about why we like Club Champion. We also offer our insights on what to look for in a fitting. Getting fit is tops on our list of things you need to consider if you are looking to improve as a player. MyGolfSpy Rant However, what gets the boat rocking is Ryan’s take on MyGolfSpy. We cover our thoughts on what’s taking place with them, and that leads us to talk about golf balls. We cover MGS and their recent series about the findings in cut open golf balls and why we think what’s happing with this “tactic” may not be for all the right reasons. Please be reminded that this is our opinion and one of the reasons we wanted to start the podcast, to share our stories and opinions. The MGS topic led us into talking about our Golf Ball Sponsor over at The Breakfast Ball, Wilson Staff. 277: Grayson Murray passing, Dealing with Injuries, Social Media Rants, VGN at Falcon
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
05/29/24 • 64 min
Episode 277
Jeremy and Dan, we're both "unavailable" this week, so we had an old-school flashback with just Matt and Joe on the mics this week in a Memorial Day episode.
The tragic passing of golf professional Grayson Murray hit everyone hard. So much could be said about this topic, and the guys chimed in and shared their thoughts with everyone. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Murray family.
Joe is dealing with an injury that has him not playing as much golf as he'd like. Thanks to Denny Dumler though, he'll be out this upcoming weekend and back at it.
Social Media is so strange lately. Matt and Joe voiced some of their concerns with trying to grow accounts directed at a specific niche but are getting sidetracked by hot chicks in bikinis eating sandwiches at the beach in Miami.
The Vegas Golf Network is teeing it up at Falcon Ridge this weekend in the 6th event of the 2024 season.
Thanks again to all of you who have liked, shared, commented, followed, tee'd it up with us, and have made our golf lives a part of yours! We are forever in debt to you and appreciate you deciding to spend a little time with us each week!

296: Ryder Cup prices out golfers, Harry Hall looks to win in Vegas, Joe has a stalker.
The Chasing Daylight Podcast
10/16/24 • 64 min
How could a simple text message turn into a full-blown Ryder Cup conversation? That's just the beginning of our whirlwind episode, where we gear up for our 300th episode milestone. From KD's tenacious journey through a Monday qualifier to Yana Wilson's prep for Q School, there's no shortage of inspiring stories. We even squeezed in a visit to Las Vegas Country Club, marveling at its pristine range conditions and dreaming about the day we'll return to play on that immaculate course.
What happens when a group of golf enthusiasts starts debating the pros and cons of Sand Valley versus Bandon? Expect a spirited exchange with plenty of chuckles and insider jokes. We're buzzing about the PGA Professionals Championship announcement at Bandon Dunes in 2026 and can't help but speculate on the rowdy influence of New Yorkers at the Ryder Cup. The playful banter doesn't stop there; from hybrid club revelations to meaty discussions about food favorites like meatloaf and cheeseburgers, this episode is a delightful mix of golf, gastronomy, and good times.
Join us as we share the joy that golf brings, whether it's the satisfaction of nailing a tricky shot with a new club, navigating the challenges of course management, or simply enjoying a round with friends. Our conversation is peppered with laugh-out-loud golf phrases and vivid memories, like those infamous drunken tee shots at Pinehurst. We also spotlight the upcoming VGN Tournament at Legacy, setting the stage for some friendly competition and last-minute points scrambling. This episode truly celebrates the game and the camaraderie it fosters.
