The book that was adapted to the movie was "The Short Timers" by Gustav Hasford.

Lacy Miller
The Charleston Marketing Podcast
02/01/24 • 57 min
At 8-years-old, Lacy Miller started her career in show business...on her driveway! With a bedsheet strung on a garden hose for a curtain, she and her sister, Gracie, began staging elaborate musicals with neighborhood children in front of their St. Louis home, and Broadway on the Driveway was born.
Not long after, the home-grown theatre company moved to various venues and grew to a team of over 150 volunteers and a full orchestra, drawing audiences in the thousands each summer. Lacy became the marketing arm of both ventures and put her design and sewing skills to work, creating stunning costumes for stage.
Today she works full-time in the music industry performing, writing music, speaking and marketing live performances. In addition to promoting Gracie & Lacy and the South of Broad band, Lacy handles the marketing for the nonprofit Charleston Jazz and consults emerging performing artists. In her spare time, she composes and records her original music and is in the process of completing a children’s book, “Broadway on the Driveway.”
