In today’s episode we have Dr. Befrika Murdianti. She’s an associate professor of chemistry at the University of the Ozarks. We will talk about her life, born and raised in Indonesia, and how her culture differs from other cultures, and how life in general is in a country like Indonesia. We also talk about the Indonesian earthquake in Sumatra, which caused damages and deaths, and how she experienced that natural disaster.
Dr. M practices Islam, and there was an event on campus called "Fast-A-Thon", basically to be part of the Ramadan for one day and fast from sunrise to sunset, event in which I participated, and we talked about that, and about how is it for a Muslim to fast for so long time for about a month.
We also got to know more about her professional career, and all her responsibilities here at Ozarks. A fun conversation full of interesting facts about her, her culture, religion, and of course... chemistry!

007 | A conversation with David Rieder, Mayor of the City of Clarksville, Arkansas
Clarksville is a small city, but we can certainly agree that it is growing and in development. I had the honor to talk with David Rieder, Mayor of the city of Clarksville, Arkansas, to talk about his life, career, and how he has paved his path to being a Mayor. We also talk about how he deals with challenges that Clarksville is facing right now, such as housing issues, and how he manages criticism from decisions he has taken, such as shutting down every public space during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We also talk about the evolution he has seen in Clarksville in the two terms he has been serving as Mayor, position that he has held since 2019. Is he planning to run for a third term? He gives a clear answer on this topic. Mayor Rieder's vision with Clarksville is to influence positively not only Clarksville, but the whole River Valley area, and that is why I asked him the role of a small city like Clarksville in a broader aspect, and how is the city relationship's with other neighbouring communities. With small cities such as Clarksville there is always a dilemma on whether growing and developing the city or keep it small, and this is a big question for a city like Clarksville as well, and how to keep that "small-city charm" while keep developing the city and growing in opportunities for all the people that lives here. Mayor Rieder gives his perspective on this and many more interesting topics. You can follow all of our productions, included "The CDRB Show" by following our Instagram page as @cdrbproductions.
