016 - MOTHERHOOD MONDAY - 3 Things to Remember When Teaching our Kids About Forgiveness
The Calm Mom - Burnout, Anxiety, Nervous System, Mindset, Self-Care, Parenting, Work-Life Balance
06/20/22 • 21 min
Forgiveness is such a power move! When we can teach our children that forgiveness is a gift that they give to themselves, we can help them let go of judgment, resentment, and misunderstanding. However, forgiveness is so much more than just saying the words “I forgive you.” In order for forgiveness to be effective, we must teach and allow our children to be able to embody it and feel compassion.
This episode is for you if you’ve ever wondered if you should force your kids to forgive. We’ll discuss why it’s so important that kids forgive only when they’re ready, and I’ll help you navigate how that conversation can sound. We’ll explore how we can teach our kids that forgiveness is not about accepting, agreeing with, or condoning what happened. And finally, we’ll talk about why it’s so important for us to model forgiveness for our children.

041 - How to Break Free from Self-Doubt and Stop Second Guessing Yourself
The Calm Mom - Burnout, Anxiety, Nervous System, Mindset, Self-Care, Parenting, Work-Life Balance
09/14/22 • 26 min
Where in your life do YOU struggle with self-doubt?
Maybe it's shown up when you set a boundary. Maybe it's when you've had something to say, but the self-doubt crept in and you stayed quiet. Maybe it was a parenting decision you made and you can't stop wondering whether you made the right choice. Or maybe it’s a dream you want to chase, but your self-doubt keeps telling you that you’re not qualified.
We all face moments of self-doubt. The key is to figure out how to move past it. Because if we don’t, self-doubt will sabotage us. It'll keep us playing small. And playing small is going to prevent us from reaching our goals, friends.
Listen to this episode to learn exactly what to do when self-doubt and imposter syndrome creep in. I teach you how to stop second-guessing yourself and change your inner dialogue so you can work with your inner critic, rather than against it!

In today’s episode, you’ll learn 3 body-based techniques to help you feel, express, and release your anger in a healthy way so you don't have to suppress it or take it out on others.

“I think we often put too much pressure on ourselves, treating too many choices as if they're super important. The truth is, a lot of stuff is pretty minor. When people write to me about certain things, I often say, 'Don't stress it. Go with the easy option.' But then there are those big decisions, and that's where it gets tricky. It's all about figuring out when to dig into the data and really think about what's best for your family.” - Prof. Emily Oster

068 - MOTHERHOOD MONDAY – 3 Tips for Raising Hopeful Kids
The Calm Mom - Burnout, Anxiety, Nervous System, Mindset, Self-Care, Parenting, Work-Life Balance
12/19/22 • 24 min
Hope is like a muscle – if we want to strengthen it, we’ve got to train it. And it's so much more than a wish or a want. Hope is an embodied confidence in God – even when things aren’t going our way. And because it’s a skill, we can teach our kids how to be hopeful.
In today’s episode you’ll learn why reminding our kids of the seasonal and cyclical nature of life is so important to cultivating hope. I also coach on how we can lovingly hold space for our children so they know they don’t have to face anything in life alone. And finally, we discuss how teaching them to question their thoughts can change the way they see the world and strengthen their hope.
