Liz Scully spent 20 years working on big Hollywood films - she’s won an Emmy and her work is multi-Oscar nominated.

She travelled the world working with massive Visual FX teams + worked far too many weekends so film directors got their perfect shot.

Now, she's a business strategist and a Mastermind coach and she'll help you do equally spectacular things with your business.

Growth is all about having a clear and simple strategy where each daily task moves the whole business along in many areas. She’s here to help you earn more, work less and have much more fun in your business.

She’s created training on how to run the most effective Mastermind groups on the planet (humans really are better together). And with Evil Coach strategy, training so good, it’s not only effective but actually entertaining. Very rare.

Liz is a fully fledged book nerd + reads a couple of books a day. She’s sifted through them to find the most effective books for you + your biz.

Plus she’s bringing in many of her pals from her days in advertising, commercials, media and speaking - to get you the very best conversation + primo book recommendations.

She's Irish, nomadic and as confused as everyone else why she has an English accent.

Publishing expert Ally Machate is back with us today to help us navigate how editing actually works. Just how many rounds of it do you need? And did you know you might need up to four different types of editor too?

It’s a lot, but Ally’s here to steer us through the whole process + help me get a more realistic handle on quite how long it’ll be till my own book, Think Like a Film Crew, is actually available. Rather longer than I expected. Gulp.

Once again, we look at a classic children’s book as if it was a biz book. What if either the Lion or the Witch in the title... were your boss? One is evil and bribes you with treats (that sleigh ride with the White Witch looks remarkably like a company car to me) and the Lion, Aslan, shows up, is vaguely encouraging then disappears... before later taking all the credit.

As a guide how not to behave with your staff it’s unparalleled and that’s before we get to the Wardrobe. Much to dig into – come + join us for a foolishness jumping off point, leading to solid business ideas.

Business coach, Kym Medina's back to help me dissect another classic kid’s book for business lessons. Today, it’s the turn of Matilda, written by that angry man in a shed, Roald Dahl.

Our tiny protagonist packs a wallop for anyone dealing with power-hungry Trunchbulls in the workplace. We laugh about bullying bosses, telekinetic revenge + why on earth Miss Honey didn’t just get a better lawyer.

Matilda never dims her brightness even when facing down dictators - a lesson we could all use in business.

Look for more shows in this Classics strand where we take a fresh look at well-known books that aren't in any way business reads.

Books discussed in this episode:

Matilda - Roald Dahl

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl

George's Marvelous Medicine - Roald Dahl

War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy

Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert

The 48 Laws of Power - Robert Greene

Toxic positivity is a such a buzzword at the moment – but it’s not a new phenomenon. Voltaire was viciously skewering it over 300 years ago.

Join show regular, Kandas Rodarte + I as we get into what exactly it is + why you want to avoid it.

We also touch on toxic forgiveness, what we can learn from the final line of the book, a quick story on the only time I’ve won a literary throwdown + possibly the world’s most nerdy economic joke. It’s all going on.

Look for more shows in the Unpopular Opinions strand - where I encourage guests to have a bit of a rant + invite you to question the conventional wisdom.

If you’re a regular listener, you’ll have heard me say that a book is a tool for your business. But how exactly do you use it? On today’s session I lay it all out for you – just like you were one of my high-end strategy clients.

We’ll discuss the many ways you can use your book as a lever, so all the work you’ve done writing it produces tangible stacked results. Plus, a reminder, that like any tool, if you don’t actively use it – it won’t build you anything.

Do check the earlier solo show on ‘Stacking’. And the other episodes in this ‘Your Biz Needs a Book’ series.

Liz is my antidote to the 'what shall I read next?' decision paralysis! I love her honesty and humour and she's a genius at pulling out all the good stuff so I don't need to read the whole book. Thanks Liz!
