#55 From Selling Solar Panels to Developing Over 16 Double Lots in One Year w/ Auston Cook

Auston Cook is a successful real estate investor, developer, and entrepreneur. He holds a degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan and is an avid outdoorsman, particularly enjoying mountain climbing. He began his career in sales, selling solar panels, and eventually transitioned to the insurance industry. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for real estate and decided to pursue it as a career.
In this episode, Auston shares his journey from selling solar panels to become a developer specializing in single-family residential homes and acquiring 16 double lots in less than a year. Both he and Rafa also closed on a hotel deal too! He discusses the challenges he faced, including his first real estate deal, which was the hardest moment in his career, and how he overcame them. He also provides insight into the process of developing a double lot, including the construction loan process and current construction prices. We also discussed the ins and outs of raising money and how we should not overcomplicate everything and just take actionable steps each day to achieve exponential growth in this business.
