Auston Cook is a successful real estate investor, developer, and entrepreneur. In this episode, we sit down with Matt Krueger. He is a full-time real estate investor based in Des Moines, Iowa. He started his real estate journey with a low income and has since built a substantial portfolio of properties. Matt and his wife have been able to achieve financial freedom through creative financing strategies and by house-hacking multiple properties.
Matt shares his journey from being a cell phone sales rep to building a substantial real estate portfolio. He started by buying a property with only 3% down and living in it for a year before renting it out. He repeated this process five times, house-hacking each property. Eventually, he scaled his portfolio by getting creative with financing and using a home equity line of credit. Matt currently has 10 long-term rentals and 2 short-term rentals and is focused on optimizing his existing properties. Matt emphasizes the importance of taking action and being willing to make sacrifices to achieve financial freedom. "Don't wait. Find a way to make it happen."
