Celestial Dreams
In this episode, we explore what we've done during the past century to explore outer space, both proximate to Earth, and into the far reaches of the solar system. A fascinating journey that briefly talks about where we have gone and where we Must Go in the next decade to the current generation and for the next 200 years of human prosperity and not go into decline. This Space Exploration was highlighted in the American Apollo Missions. This was defined at Rice University in 1962 is as President J.F.K. put it as, "We set sail on the most hazardous and greatest missions that man has ever embarked..."
We begin the discovery process as to how we got into flight in 1903. Then the step by step attempt for a human driven machine to go further into the sky to eventually reach outer space. This perilous journey is riddled with challenges. American Air Force Pilot Chuck Yeager in 1947 reached 45,000 feet high into the atmosphere. Then the USSR Russians first made success with Sputnik in 1957 and then had the first person in space in 1961.
Nonetheless reaching the Moon which was the American Goal of the 1960s. Finally on July 20th 1969, Mission Accomplished set by Apollo 11!
Curiosity pursues and the next goal of space probes begins with Voyager 1 & 2. These unmanned spacecrafts take tens of thousands of photos of our solar system. This set our sights on new space bases on Saturn's moon Titan someday soon. First thought, we must set colonizing our celestial objects of the Moon and Mars.
From there, we will travel to the precious-metal-rich asteroid belts. This will unite us for a number reason all explained in this Revolutionary and Astronomical B.I.G. 8 series. Listen here to learn more and hear it all!
