Get the "Chiseled" Look With Cool Sculpting at Victory Medical Med Spa
08/28/21 • 10 min
Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in medical and urology care and the best urology humor out there.
In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are joined by Kristin of Victory Medical Center's amazing Med Spa. Today, Dr. Mistry and Kristin discuss Cool Sculpting, a non-invasive process that removes subcutaneous fat through the application of cryolipolysis technology. Cool Sculpting kills and disseminates the fat cells under the skin, which can shrink through weight loss but are never totally eliminated unless removed. More men than ever are seeking such aesthetic interventions, and as many as 50% of Victory Medical's Cool Sculpting clients are male. The most popular area to have "sculpted" is the jawline/chin area--it is very effective at giving men the chiseled look they're looking for. Other common areas are the stomach and flanks. The FDA doesn't currently allow Cool Sculpting on breast tissue or the glutes. If you or a loved one are interested in learning more about this "cool" treatment, call us today!

Phases of Peyronie's Disease: When Are Shots, Surgery Viable Options?
Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there.
In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee talk about Peyronie's disease. This condition causes a bend to develop in the penis either suddenly or over time and can become quite painful and severe. Fortunately, there are many treatments for Peyronie's disease that address it's various causes and effects. There are different interventions depending on the degree of penile curvature and the severity of symptoms. Today, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee describe the two phases of Peyronie's progression and explain what kinds of interventions are appropriate to each. While surgical interventions can be very effective, they're not recommended until the penile curvature has stabilized during the chronic phase, which can take some time. In the acute phase of Peyronie's disease, there is often pain associated with the development of plaques. This is an important time to ensure that erections during intercourse remain rigid to prevent any microtrauma, which can worsen (and/or cause) the effects of Peyronie's. For this reason, a daily dose of Tadalafil or Cialis are often used to improve erection rigidity. The other treatment offered for acute Peyronie's include shots of medications like Xiaflex and Verapamil, which can be very helpful in slowing disease progression. Only once these options have failed and the patient has entered the chronic phase of disease should surgery be considered. No matter your situation, getting an evaluation and proper measurement of your curvature by a urologist is essential in identifying the right treatment.

How the Four Types of Sexual Dysfunction in Women Affect Relationships and How To Treat Them
Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in medical and urology care and the best urology humor out there.
In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee discuss the four types of sexual dysfunction in women: Dr. Mistry: dysfunction of desire, dysfunction of pain, dysfunction of arousal, and dysfunction of orgasm. Dysfunction is marked by the distress it causes the person experiencing it, so when it comes to sex, if something doesn't bother you, it's not dysfunctional. Many women are not directly bothered by a sexual issue, but are bothered by the effect it is having on their partner--and that, too, counts as dysfunction. Importantly, the types of sexual dysfunctions in women tend to overlap and interact. For example, an issue of pain during sex may cause the development of arousal dysfunction, etc.
Sexual dysfunction is also strongly affected by relationships, and where one partner is experiencing dysfunction, you are likely to find an issue with the other as well. Consequently, treating some types of dysfunction is not enough to fix the issue at hand. For example, if a man is struggling to maintain an erection but his partner isn't interested in sex anyway, treating his ED will not fully resolve the problem. Dr. Mistry explains that there are several medications available to women to treat the different kinds of sexual dysfunction most commonly experienced. These include Viagra, which can help women achieve arousal (as it does for men); Addyi, which increases desire by improving the pleasure center hormone in the brain; and Vyleesi, which is an injection that gradually ramps up desire in women over several hours. If you or a loved one are experiencing sexual dysfunction or would like to learn more about the treatments available for them, please give us a call today!
