What a year to be talking about! Jackson DeStefano joins me as we take out the trash of 1929, and reward the few good movies that were released that year and eligible for the Oscars. Besides our awards, we mostly discussed the struggle of transitioning to sound that plagued 1929, and Jackson briefly mentioned his thoughts on Gary Cooper and Walter Huston, as well as the technical marvels and importance of Hallelujah being undermined by its abhorrent racism. And we both agreed on the greatness of Lucky Star, not to spoil anything. And I didn't even remember to mention Paul Fejos' narratively messy technical marvel Broadway! Oh, and beware of the gaffe Jackson and I made in forgetting to announce our winners, which we quickly corrected. Anyways, cheers and enjoy!
