That Film Stew Ep 142 - Halloween (Review)

11/14/18 • 46 min

That Film Stew Podcast
We're still playing catch up! It may be November already but that doesn't mean we can't still talk about Halloween. Halloween is the eleventh film in the franchise. It's a direct sequel to the original film from 1978, and it retcons all of the other sequels (especially those Rob Zombie remakes). Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween follows a post-traumatic Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) who prepares to face Michael Myers in a final showdown on Halloween night, forty years after she escaped his killing spree. If this movie's got anything worth offering - John Carpenter's score is back!

That Film Stew Ep 141 - Venom (Review)

That's right, we are back! It's a bit delayed, but we couldn't pass on sharing our thoughts on Venom. So if you're still interested in the movie and still interested in us, here it is. Venom is the first entry in Sony’s Marvel Universe, which is adjunct to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Spider-Man movie without Spider-Man. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom stars Tom Hardy as shamed journalist Eddie Brock who is trying to take down Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. He's lost his reputation and he's lost his love (Michelle Williams). While investigating one of Drake’s experiments, Eddie’s body merges with the alien symbiote Venom – leaving him with superhuman strength and power.
