That Film Stew Podcast

Known to many as the show that was cancelled way too soon - it is time to talk about Firefly. That Film Stew's Luke and Comiczone's Jae sit down and look back at the start of what this series could have been. They cover all 14 episodes of Firefly (yes, that's every episode!) as well as the movie Serenity. This is the ultimate Firefly episode! They take a look at the characters and their actors, the costumes, the special effects, the music, the look of the world, and of course the comic books - everything that makes up this space western drama created by Joss Whedon. The series is set in the year 2517, after the arrival of humans in a new star system and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity, a "Firefly-class" spaceship. The ensemble cast (including Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, and Adam Baldwin) portrays the nine characters who live on Serenity.

There’s been a shake up for DC’s Batgirl film, we’ve got a release date for Jurassic World 3 (already!), and there’s been some casting announced for the Goosebumps sequel. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Pacific Rim is the science fiction monster film which is regarded as an homage to kaiju, mech, and anime media. Luke and Nathan return to the not-too-distant past to revisit this movie which is set in the not-too-distant future - the first in the Pacific Rim film franchise. To fight the Kaiju, mankind developed giant robots called Jaegers, designed to be piloted by two humans locked together in a neural bridge. However, even the Jaegers are not enough to defeat the Kaiju, and humanity is on the verge of defeat. Mankind's last hope now lies with a washed-up ex-pilot (Charlie Hunnam), an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) and an old, obsolete Jaeger.
