In this episode of TFB's Behind the Gun Podcast I've brought in a new friend of mine who helps budding competitors like myself get arms from my home here in the United States to competitions around the globe. Les Winner is the owner of Polaris Logistics which is an international import/export service provider with a specific focus on firearms. It's perfectly legal in most cases to have your own firearms shipped around the globe for a wide variety of purposes, however, dealing with all the permits, paperwork, and local authorities and governmetns can often prove to be too much of a hassle for most people and that's where Les and Polaris Logistics come into play. Les simply needs you to tell him where the arms need to go, and after that, you ship your guns to him and he takes care of the rest of it. Simple! In addition to being a pseudo-international arms smuggler (legally), Les also has the reputation as being one of the grand daddies of the Brutality Matches having been to nearly every single match since its inception back in 2018. This year Les and I happened to be in the same squad and got to run the competition side by side. On today's episode of TFB's Behind the Gun Podcast we're continuing our coverage of Finnish Brutality 2023, this time with Mike Burns from Bloke on the Range. Mike is another TFB alumni whose expanded into his own YouTube channel and covers mostly historical firearms from his new home in Switzerland. Along with myself and a handful of others in our squad, Mike ran the competition as part of the Armored/TST "Breacher" division which really adds to the Brutality of the Match. Mike's getup this year was a callback to the Falkalnd's War complete with near-period correct gear save for a few items for the sake of practicality. Today Mike and I get into some nitty gritty details about his specific gear, how the antiquated setup held up to a modern competition, and also what it's like training from the country of Switzerland where is quite easy to get guns, but not quite as easy to train in a dynamic shooting enviornment for a competition like Finnish Brutality.
