Dr. Jennifer Chain is a Licensed Psychologist and the owner of Thrive for the People, a group mental health practice in Seattle, WA. Her practice specializes in working with helpers, givers and fixers who are ready to focus on their own needs and create nourishing relationships. She was born in China and immigrated to the US with her parents when she was a child. Growing up across cultures with an interracial family and struggling with her own mental health concerns sparked her curiosity about psychology. The word psychology comes from the word psyche and the suffix ology, which means “the study of the soul/life.” She felt called to deeply understand people’s souls and the meaning of life. Specifically, she wanted to understand how people overcame challenges, healed their pain, and ultimately transformed through adversity.

110: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome and Embracing Authenticity

Imposter syndrome is birthed from a misalignment between our internal and external worlds.

In this episode, I dive into this misalignment between internal self-worth and external success and explore the possible root cause of imposter syndrome in our lives, including the influence of our inner child’s need for attention and love, and the impact of trauma and dysregulation on self-perception. I shed light on the tendency to hide behind masks of confidence and perfectionism, the struggle between seeking external validation vs. cultivating self-love, and recognizing the importance of doing the internal work to align with our truest selves.

Are you willing to shed some of those layers of insecurity and unworthiness to achieve a deeper sense of peace? Join me for this one.

I dive into:

  • Imposter syndrome: getting to the root
  • Exploring the incongruence between our internal and external worlds
  • Letting go of identity constraints to expand our impact & happiness
  • Hiding behind masks: confidence, perfectionism, the “good-girl” identity, and more
  • External validation vs. self-love
  • Aligning with our truest selves through inner child work & body-centered healing
  • And more
