35. Make An Animal Kingdom Using Sustainable Materials with Joyce Curvin

10/24/19 • 37 min

Spark Creators
For this episode, we invited Joyce Curvin, an artist based in Palm Harbor Florida. Joyce uses new and recycled materials to create zany creatures that have attitude and spunk. These colourful characters---infused with large doses of humour—are inspired by the wildlife of Florida, from funky Sandhill Cranes, lazy alligators, to her very own dog and cat. Joyce strives to keep her art environmentally friendly and she uses plastic bottles, cardboard, old toys, guitar strings, wires and layers of paint to create her animals. But how did she get into creating animals from all kinds of materials? What's her process is like? Why is it important for her to create certain animals but not the others? Let's tune in and hear Joyce's story.
