After The Show: Blu DeTiger @ The Agora in Cleveland, Ohio
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
05/12/23 • 5 min
Live from the Sabrina Carpenter Tour, I got the chance to speak with Blu DeTiger after her show at The Agora in Cleveland, Ohio.
If you don't recognize the name Blu DeTiger, I can guarantee you'll recognize her music from a TikTok audio you've used in 2020. She's a bassist, a solo artist, and constantly pushing creative bounds.
I first discovered Blu during the pandemic and she truly was the first artist that I watched grow a following through TikTok. I have been dying to see her live and can attest that not only is she just as cool as she looks online, but sounded even better in person.
While we only got a chance to talk for a short moment, we discussed the tour so far, transitioning from TikTok to sold out venues, and advice to anyone feeling like statistically their dreams may be out of reach.
Keep up with Blue DeTiger and catch her on tour!

After The Show: Abby Holliday @ The Grog Shop
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
04/21/23 • 3 min
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties has gone LIVE! and I'm taking my tiny mic to the show. I got the chance to speak with Abby Holliday after her show at The Grog Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. She is currently supporting Michigander on the It Will Never Be The Same Tour.
If Abby Holliday isn't already on your radar, she should be now. We got to talk to her just after her release of her second album, 'IM OKAY NO IM NOT'. I think her music is best described as if Phoebe Bridgers left you a voicemail, it's moody, heartfelt, and you'll want to replay it multiple times.
In this interview we discussed her new album, tour so far, and two of my personal favorite songs, "Ohio Laundry Room" and "Noise".
See Abby Holliday and Michigander on tour!

Hometowns with The Brazen Youth
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
03/31/23 • 39 min
This episode is for anyone listening from their childhood bedroom. We discuss the unexpected change that is bound to happen in our lives, the growth that comes from pursuing through it, and the gratitude we gain after.
We interviewed The Brazen Youth on their new album Eagle, Idaho and discuss their writing process for this album, the inspiration behind some of their songs, and why the album is named after Eagle, Idaho.
Our conversation (and their song Hometown) leads us discuss, moving back to your hometown. Something that happens often and is not nearly as romanticized as moving to a west coast city.
We added more stories to these lyrics with Dr. Tammy Kernodle, a distinguished professor at Miami University who specializes in African American Music and gender music studies. She shares stories from her own experience navigating life after collage and emphasizes the importance of CREATING the life you want even if it wasn't exactly what you planned.
So whether you're tackling your next great adventure from your childhood bedroom or in a new city, this episode has taught me that a lot of joy in life comes from accepting where you are and moving forward from there.

The Soundtrack of Your Twenties // Quarter Life Crisis
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
10/30/22 • 40 min
Do you feel like you're "doing everything right" but still feel like something is missing? Or maybe you just turned 23 and feel pressure to grow up and "become an adult". Today we interviewed rising Nashville artist, Taylor Bickett and Satya Doyle Byock, author of Quarter-Life, to work through these quarter life crisis feelings.
This episode was inspired by Taylor Bickett's new song QUARTER LIFE CRISIS. We interview Taylor about her background in music, her rise through TikTok, and of course the emotions and the inspiration behind QUARTER LIFE CRISIS.
To answer the questions we both had on working through these quarter-life emotions, I got the chance to interview Satya Doyle Byock, author of Quarterlife, a book on searching for both meaning and stability in early adulthood. We discuss how our world has been structured for stability, but satisfaction doesn't necessarily mean playing along in a game of life. We walk through finding both meaning and stability, her stick figure exercise (which she discuses in length on NPR's Life Kit), and finding ways to not just "grow up" but round out life.

The Soundtrack of Your Twenties // Moving to a West Coast City
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
09/30/22 • 55 min
Are you moving across the country to follow your dreams? Or maybe just moving out of your hometown for the first time? On this episode we're talking about moving to a west coast city.
We interviewed Tucker Rivera, rising bed-room pop artists who chased his dreams of becoming making it as a musician all the way to LA (and wrote a great song in the process). We talked about his song West Coast City, what motivated him to pursue his passions, and what it's been like so far.
We added more stories to these lyrics with Alicia DiScipio, a Miami University alum who moved to a west coast city to pursue her passions of movies and music. She is currently working in sync within the music industry and offers post move advice, how to jump at opportunities when you have no idea where they might lead, and how to avoid comparison through all the ups and downs.

The Soundtrack of Your Twenties // Welcome to SZN 3
Soundtrack Of Your Twenties
09/16/22 • 5 min
Welcome to SZN 3 and the beginning of The Soundtrack of Your Twenties. This season we are adding more stories to the lyrics, interviewing artists in the "making it" stage of their career about the stories behind their lyrics as well as music fans "making it" in their twenties.
To start off this season I reminisced on the beginning of this podcast, how the show started, and how far I've come. It's this stories like this that I want to capture on SZN 3. Periods of time where the future might have been unknown, but we took a risk and figured it out. Everything from what goes into the making of a song to how it relates to the making of a career.
We're going to learn a lot, discover some great new music, and uncover the soundtrack of our twenties. No one has the right answer, but music helps.
New episodes will be posted every other week on Fridays!
