Six Degrees of WTF
They say it's the most wonderful time of the year, so let's talk about some not-so-wonderful disappearances, shall we?
Erin kicks things off with the disappearance of Patty Vaughan. Patty allegedly left her home after a fight with her estranged husband and then vanished. Did he do something to her, or is someone else at fault?
O'Dell then covers the story of the missing Martin family who left their Portland home one Sunday morning in 1958 and have not been seen or heard from since. It was supposed to be a family outing to gather greenery for Christmas decorations, but what really transpired?Erin brings us home with a WTF story about a man who died after too many years of accepting dares from his buddies, and then we cleanse the palette with another "what if?" involving a strange baby.

  • 00:42 - How is it December?

Tis the season! Before we dive into weeks of "the war on Christmas", Hallmark movies, overspending, and "holiday cheer", we have to get through a day of overeating, arguing with family about stuff that divides us... and football. If you're into none of that, or if you need an escape, we're here to help.
Today we kick things off with us talking about our friendship and how some folks have written in asking if we're being hostile or intentionally "mean" to one another. The answer is neither. We just enjoy razzing one another.
O'Dell then kicks off true crime story time with the strange disappearance of the Skelton brothers. 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner went missing after spending Thanksgiving day with their father in 2010. Eleven years later, the boys are still missing, and the father's story continues to change.
Erin then talks about Paul Merhige, a man who attended Thanksgviing dinner with his family and then proceeded to shoot 4 of them dead. Did he snap, or had he been planning this for a while? We close things out with another reminder that if death wants you, he will find you one way or another which leads to a couple of hypothetical/what if questions before we sign off.
Chapters:

  • 00:00 - Intro
  • 00:42 - Do we like one another?
  • 05:39 - Aiden Fucci Update
  • 10:19 - O'Dell's Story: The Missing Skelton Brothers
  • 41:19 - Erin's Story: Paul Merhige - Murderer
  • 58:42- WTF-ery: Death Will Find You
  • 1:03:03 - Cleansing the palette with some what ifs?

This episode is rife with folks who will not be on Santa's good list this year.
O'Dell kicks things off with the kidnapping of Jonelle Matthews who went missing form her family's home on December 20, 1984. 35 years later her remains were found, and an Idaho gubernatorial candidate was indicted in her murder in 2020. His trial began in October 2021.
Erin then talks about the murder of Sameena Imam who was dating a man named Roger Cooper. Roger was juggling three women, and decided Sameena wanted more than he was ready to give, so he had his brother help him plan the perfect murder (or so they thought).
O'Dell closes things out with a story of terrorist monkeys which leads to a discussion of which animal would leave us shaking in our shoes were we to meet it face to face.

  • 00:00 - Intro
  • 00:45 - Nothing in this chapter matters
  • 04:04 - O'Dell's Story: The Disappearance & Murder of Jonelle Matthews
