Welcome back to another rib-tickling season of "Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads"! Gear up as your audacious hosts, G-Rex and Dirty Skittles, kick off Season 2 with a hearty serving of kitchen chaos, featuring the delightful and spirited Pez.
**What's Cooking in This Episode:**
Laugh till your stomach hurts with G-Rex as he tries (and fails!) to keep his composure while Pez spills the beans on her zany kitchen escapades.
Dirty Skittles will take you on a nostalgic trip from the doughy counters of Dunkin' Donuts to the prestigious halls of Johnson & Wales University.
Learn why Pez opted out of a culinary education and how Dirty Skittles baked her way into the cover of a PBS cookbook.
Dive into the saucy tales of hotel kitchen drama and why a pantry isn’t just for stocking ingredients (wink, wink).
Discover the power of friendship in the wildest of work environments as our hosts and Pez reminisce about their pal, Bizzle.
Pez peels back the curtain on the hard-knock life in the kitchen, from wing nights to dish-slinging, and how it shaped her approach to food service.
Our hosts champion the importance of mental health, especially in high-pressure work environments, proving that it's okay to seek help when you need it.
Pez shares her journey from teenage money-maker to confronting the overwhelming world of commercial dishwashing as a single mom stepping back into the workforce.
**Lessons Served Hot:**
1. Your path may change direction, and that's perfectly fine. You have to find where your passion truly lies, just like Pez did.
2. The kitchen is more than a place of work—it's a crucible for character, skill, and sometimes, unexpected friendships and wild stories.
3. Support systems are crucial, whether in or out of the kitchen. Our mental health can often benefit from a little TLC and open conversations.
4. Life may sometimes throw you into the deep end (or the dish pit!), but being a positive force can change not only your perspective but also your customers' experiences.
5. A job is not just what you do; it's how you rise to the occasion. Pez's willingness to tackle the front house with minimal experience speaks volumes of her grit.
Remember to tune in for more amusing banter and life lessons from the kitchen as Pez, G-Rex, and Dirty Skittles cook up a storm. All this and more in the next part of this two-part series—stay tuned, stay hungry for adventure, and always keep talking about the sh!t that goes on in our heads!

Welcome back to **Sh!t That Goes On In Our Heads**—the no-holds-barred podcast where we unravel the complexities of the human psyche! This time on **Mental Health 101: Importance of Exercise and Mental Health with Guest Speaker Crazy 8** with your hosts G-Rex and Dirty Skittles, we invite a special guest, soon-to-be-retired mental health therapist, Crazy 8, to share his lifetime of insights.
Let's dive deep into the mind and tease out some invaluable takeaways:
**Lessons Learned:**
1. **Empathy is Key:** Crazy 8 tells us about his 28 years in the mental health trenches, emphasizing how empathy grew not only from clinical practice but from the very real stories of his patients. It's a cornerstone for understanding others and ourselves.
2. **The Empath's Burden:** G-Rex exposes the realities of being an empath and the critical need for self-care to shield oneself from being overwhelmed by others' emotions.
3. **Self-Care is Non-Negotiable:** Both G-Rex and Crazy 8 echo the sentiment that taking care of oneself is paramount to providing help to others, and to prevent causing harm—both physically and mentally.
4. **Stuck in the Mind? Not Anymore:** Dirty Skittles probes strategies to escape negative thought spirals, leading to a consensus on the importance of living in the present rather than being haunted by the past.
5. **Nature as a Balm:** With Crazy 8's military discipline and G-Rex's move upstate, we learn how connecting with the outdoors can bring a sense of peace and perspective.
6. **Body Movement for Mind Strength:** All three agree that a rigorous gym routine is akin to a cleanse for the mind. Dirty Skittles shares a powerful story of physical and mental exhaustion that many can relate to.
7. **Nutrition Meets Convenience:** Finding healthy food options shouldn't be a brainbuster. The hosts discuss their positive experiences with Factor meal deliveries. Get your own brain food delivered to your doorstep! (Don't forget our discount code!)
8. **Zen Out for Inner Peace:** Crazy 8 extols the virtues of Zen meditation for those inner moments of self-reflection and exploration.
9. **Guard Your Heart and Mind:** Compassion fatigue is real, folks. Mental health professionals are not immune, and recognizing the signs can protect your inner sanctuary.
10. **Trauma's Toll and Triumph:** Personal anecdotes bring to light how trauma shapes us, with Crazy 8 guiding us to tread the fine line between empathy and absorption of others' troubles.
11. **Emotional Intelligence Wins:** Understand your emotions, separate fact from opinion, and choose how you react—Crazy 8's mantra for a healthier mental state.
12. **Perfectly Imperfect:** Loosen up! Life's about the journey, not the perfection. Make room for error, joy, and self-compassion.
13. **Retirement Real Talk:** What comes after the finish line? The hosts and Crazy 8 confront the emotional landscape of retirement, finding community through shared experiences.
Join us as we peel away the layers of our thoughts and feelings in this powerful episode with Crazy 8. Remember folks, life's too short to sweat the small stuff—embrace imperfection and let's continue to break mental health stigmas, one episode at a time!
**Listen, learn, and let's all laugh—and maybe cry—a bit together. 💭✨🎧**
