In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes four to six of My Happy Marriage with Pete and Miles of the What Do You Say Anime podcast. In episode seven, justice certainly tastes like a sweet sundae as everyone celebrates the Saimori’s downfall. Hazuki brings, as Miles points out, a new, interesting pace to this anime as a far more upbeat, energetic character to a more generally reserved cast. Pete pours some fresh, piping hot fudge all over Kouji. In episode eight, the grotesqueries really shake things up: Giana is intrigued by the presentation of the curse, Chika is grossed out by them, and Miles points out the lackadaisical attitude the fabulous heir has about fighting against them. In episode nine, Miles gives a clearer perspective on some confusion around Kudo knowing if Miyo fainted in his absence. Miyo and Kudo’s vulnerable nighttime conversation brings on lots of shoujo feels. Arata gets BOILED in hot fudge!

In episode four, the braided cord Miyo gifts to Kudo stirs up several colorful sprinkles on top. Between Miyo’s handmade gift and her talk with her childhood nanny Hana, Miyo is able to grow positively in multiple ways in this episode. Josh and Giana both get a little extra vulnerable. In episode five, Kouji valiantly stands up to his father for Miyo, earning him back a spot in Floats Your Boat. Find out the unexpected place the Tatsuishi’s gain their power (which is definitely canon). In episode six, the heaviness of the episode hits everyone hard. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana review episodes ten to twelve of My Happy Marriage. In episode ten, Kudo is commended for his passion and determination to stay by Miyo’s side. It was quite a shock to learn that Miyo had more immediate family, and also Arata’s weapon of choice in his duel with Kudo. Miyo’s dishonesty with Kudo upsets both Chika and Giana. In episode eleven, Giana shows appreciation for Miyo’s courage to stand up to Arata, even in small ways. Chika advises Miyo to not automatically follow the orders of her grandfather that she’s never met. Surprisingly we have... spanking? in My Happy Marriage? In episode twelve, Miyo not only finds healing through her powers, but saves Kudo. The lack of a kiss between Miyo and Kudo stirs up some frustration. The Emperor’s motive is confusing to say the least.
