176: Seven Figure Secrets - Money Mindset Beyond 500K
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
04/01/24 • 8 min
In this week’s bite-size Seven Figure Secrets episode, I’m diving into the fascinating world of money mindset and wealth creation, especially tailored for us as women B2B consultants.
I share my insights on the psychological hurdles we often encounter as we scale our businesses to that coveted seven-figure mark, such as imposter syndrome and the identity crises that can sneak up on us!
I believe that it’s crucial to seek internal validation rather than getting caught up in the chase for external success. I also talk about how to conquer the fear of money and open ourselves up to attracting abundance.
Quotes:
“Expect your mindset to bite when you get past the point of where you have previously been. And I want us to really focus in on this from a money mindset perspective. When you get to around the 500K mark in your consulting business, don’t be surprised if your money mindset falls off a cliff.”
“Sometimes we are so invested in the version of ourselves who DOESN’T get there, who finds everything a struggle, who doesn’t feel like she’s going to make it, who can’t afford things, that we really battle against our new reality.”

037: Should I Work With Someone Who Isn’t An Ideal Client?
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
08/03/20 • 19 min
In the middle of the Covid crisis, many of us are in an uncertain season, a ‘between Winters’ stage and we don’t exactly know how things will play out in the months ahead.
This uncertainty can cause a sense of scarcity, even desperation, and a feeling that we should take on any and all work offered to us, even if it isn’t the work we would usually do.
I encourage my clients to have an Ideal Client in mind for their consulting services. If there’s a type of business you prefer to work with, or a kind of work you prefer to do, it makes sense to focus on attracting more of this.
But what do you do if you get asked to work with someone who doesn’t fit your idea of an Ideal Client, especially now, when we may be feeling uncertain about the future of our economy.
That’s the topic I’m exploring in this week’s podcast episode, including:
- Why you might be feeling more tempted than ever to work with people who don’t fit your Ideal Client criteria.
- Why having an Ideal Client brief or avatar is important for your business
- How to know which opportunities to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to
- How to know when your initial ‘no’ reaction is sensible judgement, or fear of your own limits
- And how to use requests from non-Ideal Clients as inspiration for additional revenue streams.

048: Developing a Journaling Practice
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
10/26/20 • 37 min
What do you do with all the thoughts, ideas, notes, and possibly doubts that don’t necessarily belong on your task list or in your business planner?
We have so much in our heads, and when you run your own consulting business it feels like you are juggling a million thoughts at the same time. We need somewhere to put the thoughts which don’t necessarily need to be acted on today, or this week, or that is not part of a work we are doing with our clients.
Something which has really helped me in my life and my business is journaling. It’s always been my go-to for mindset, dealing with stress, looking at why I am holding myself back, a place for working on strategic planning, and so much more. I love journaling and I encourage my clients to do it.
I’m quite an instinctive journaler and sometimes find myself flummoxed by the question: how do I journal? If that is something you would like to know the answer to, then this week my guest on the podcast is Moyra Mackie. She’s an accredited coach and organisational consultant, and has developed Journal Safari to help people create a space where they can step away from being busy and articulate their thoughts and feelings.
We talk about:
- How journaling is like having a life coach
- Giving yourself permission to make space for yourself
- Figuring out your personal journaling practice
- Dealing with our emotions
- Starting from where you are
- Getting stuck and learning from it
- Talking down your inner critic
- Integrating the pieces of yourself

024: Selling To Corporates In Uncertain Times with Catherine Watkin
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
05/04/20 • 36 min
The current crisis seems to have split small businesses, including consulting businesses, into three camps:
- Everything’s cancelled
- Everything’s carrying on as normal
- Everything’s ramped up and they’ve got more enquiries than they can handle
In this interview with Catherine Watkin (who coaches people on how to sell from the heart) we discussed how to handle selling to corporates at this time, including:
- How to keep selling without feeling like you’re profiteering
- How to respond if an existing client is considering ending/pausing their contract
- The importance of taking the lead in sales conversations
- How you can connect with the value you bring, so you can have better sales conversations
- The simple, yet powerful offer you can make instead of postponing/cancelling live events and workshops.

018: How To Navigate Your Business In Uncertain Times
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
03/24/20 • 13 min
This week’s episode wasn’t what we originally had on the schedule, but now seems like the right time to discuss this - navigating your business through uncertain times.
I’m talking about:
- The impact your mindset will have on your business and your day-to-day experience, and how to take control of that.
- How to move past fear and disbelief and into acceptance and planning.
- How staying calm and looking for opportunities will help your business survive (and even thrive).
- The importance of staying connected with others.
- But not too connected (especially to social media).
There’s disruption, chaos, and fear around us, but we do have the capacity to respond, adjust and move on.
062: The Transition To Earning More Than Your Partner
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
02/15/21 • 17 min
Have things started to come together in your consulting business? You’ve put your heart and soul into your work and now it’s paying off. You’re approaching projects with energy and confidence and your bank balance has increased.
You’re now earning a really good salary, possibly more than you did in your corporate job. But if you are married or in a lifelong partnership, this can raise an important issue. That is, do you see your consulting business as the ‘supporting income’ in your household? If so, is that something you are happy about?
This week on the podcast, I am discussing the transition to earning more than your partner.
I talk about:
- The impact of the pandemic on women-owned businesses
- How women see themselves as business owners
- The potential of your consultancy business to be life-changing for you
- How earning more than your partner can mean a shift in your relationship
- Figuring out what your dreams and aspirations are

100: Two Questions About Building A Team That Have Been Blowing My Clients’ Minds This Quarter
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
11/08/21 • 16 min
Many of the women I speak to come to the topic of building a team from a really negative place. There are lots of reasons for that but if you have aspirations to grow past 7 figures, you are going to be working with a team.
Often we are thrown into leadership situations without any preparation or experience. As you transition from a solo consultant to a CEO your leadership style and performance will be something you intentionally work on.
But how do you know who to recruit? Who is going to be a good fit for your consultancy?
In this week’s episode I am sharing two questions about building a team that have been blowing my clients’ minds this quarter.
I talk about:
- Learning to build a team
- Limiting beliefs around recruiting for your small business
- Identifying what you need to bring other people in to do for you
- What you need from your team at different stages of your business
- Enabling your team to be more productive
This is episode 100 of the podcast! Thank you for listening. I am super excited for our NEXT 100 episodes as I feel like we are only really just scratching the surface of what it takes to get to Seven Figures as a Woman Consultant.

103: Creating Leverage In Your Consulting Business
Seven Figure Consultant with Jessica Fearnley
11/29/21 • 35 min
Are you reluctant to ask for help even though you are overstretched?
So often we can be reluctant to pass on the baton. Rather than thinking about the fact we’re not so keen on an aspect of running our business, or that bringing on additional team members is going to help us, we see it as cheating in some way.
At school if you had outsourced your homework or asked another child what the answer was during an exam, you would have been in big trouble. We carry that with us. Asking for help, or bringing in someone who excels in an area we do not, is not cheating in business. In fact, it’s the way to get ahead.
I’m talking about creating leverage in your consultancy business with Doug C. Brown on the podcast this week. Doug is CEO of Business Success Factors and international best-selling author of the book Win-Win Selling: Unlocking Your Power for Profitability by Resolving Objections. He is a nationally recognized sales revenue growth expert and consultant who has consulted with companies such as CBS Television, Intuit, and Proctor and Gamble. His proprietary system has generated over $500M in sales, and he helps companies optimize their sales process and increase their sales by over 850%.
We talk about:
- How we get conditioned to believe certain things about running a business
- Creating more with the same amount of energy
- Investing in your business
- Putting processes in place and optimising them to achieve more
- Linking the value of your work to the return for your client
