Milan took home the 3 points in a dramatic come-from-behind away win in the Milan derby, with Olivier Giroud striking twice in three minutes to turn the match around, amid drama on the sidelines.
Juventus' star signings Vlahovic and Zakaria scored on debut to win the match against Verona and finally find themselves inside the top 4, after Atalanta incredulously lost at home to Cagliari.
VAR struck again as Roma was denied a last-gasp winner against relegation zone dwellers Genoa after what seemed to be Nicolo Zaniolo's winning strike was ruled out for a Tammy Abraham (ahem...) 'foul' in the build up, leading to a booking for the Englishman and a send off for Zaniolo's dissent. No surprises that Jose Mourinho was not too impressed.
Elsewhere Lazio won away at Fiorentina, and Napoli sent Venezia into the relegation zone after striker Victor Osimhen returned from AFCON duties with Nigeria.
