According to The Art of Becoming Unstuck, page 225, forgiveness is defined as "releasing of others from their responsibility to act in a certain way according to our expectations, beliefs or value systems." In a way, this release brings acceptance which offsets the judgment we hold against others.

They also explore the factors that help us or prevent us from forgiving others, as they discover that forgiveness is a process that benefits the person who forgives more than the person who is forgiven.

And finally, they share the essential communication strategies, especially I-Feel statements and Open Ended Curious Questions, to foster the process of forgiveness, and facilitate a deeper connection between the forgiver and the forgiven.
