What kind of legacy are you leaving behind, and how are you impacting the lives of those around you?

Today, I want to talk about legacy, inspired by the memory of my mom, whose birthday is June 3rd. Even though she's no longer with us, her legacy continues to shape my life and the lives of many others.

As we reflect on the legacies of those who have impacted us, let's also consider the legacy we are creating. Whether through small gestures or significant commitments, we are continuously leaving a mark on the lives around us. Thank you, Mom, for the legacy you’ve left in my life.

This episode is dedicated to exploring what it means to leave a legacy and how we can be mindful of the impact we have on others every single day.

In this episode:

Personal Reflection on Legacy:

  • Celebrating my mom’s life and legacy through family traditions.
  • Reflecting on the impact of influential people during my childhood.

Defining Legacy:

  • Understanding that legacy is not only what we leave after death.
  • Realizing legacy is created in everyday interactions and actions.
  • The importance of being authentic while building your legacy.

Impact on Others:

  • How small actions and gestures can leave a lasting mark.
  • Examples of encouraging and supporting others despite personal challenges.
  • The influence of positive interactions in a world often focused on negativity.

Continuing My Mom’s Legacy:

  • Involvement with Girl Scouts as a way to honor my mom’s memory.
  • Supporting my daughter and other girls through leadership and mentorship.
  • Balancing personal challenges with the commitment to leaving a positive legacy.

Encouragement to Listeners:

  • Identifying the legacy you want to leave.
  • Small, meaningful ways to impact others daily.
  • Reflecting on the legacies left by important people in your life.

In this episode, we're going to discuss how identifying and removing things that drain your energy and affect your balance can help you thrive. I share with you my AHA moment after taking care of our house plant that led me to realize certain things in our lives may be draining our energy and causing imbalance, even though they seem to be functioning. We'll explore how creating boundaries and cutting out these energy drainers can lead to a more fulfilling life.

Segment 1: The Analogy of the House Plant

  • The analogy of a house plant helps to illustrate how something that appears green and alive may not be contributing to the plant's health.
  • We need to identify and cut out those sections that are holding the plant back, even if they still look green.
  • Similarly, in our lives, certain things may be draining our energy and causing imbalance, even though they appear to be functioning.

Segment 2: False Friends

  • We all have false friends that drain our energy and cause imbalance, such as relationships or habits that are no longer serving us.
  • It's important to recognize these false friends and have the courage to cut them out of our lives, even if it means creating discomfort.
  • Once these false friends are removed, we create space for growth and fulfillment.

Segment 3: Poor Boundaries at Work

  • Many people struggle with poor boundaries at work, feeling obligated to stay in a job that goes against their values and drains their energy.
  • It's important to recognize the impact of poor boundaries on our overall well-being and make changes accordingly, even if it means leaving a job.
  • By creating boundaries at work, we create space for personal growth and a greater sense of fulfillment.

Identifying and cutting out what's draining our energy and causing imbalance is crucial for finding balance in life. Just like cutting out sections of a house plant can lead to growth and vibrancy, creating boundaries and cutting out false friends in our lives can lead to personal growth and fulfillment. It may be uncomfortable at first, but the results are worth it.
