What does embracing pleasure look like as a woman whether your a woman without kids, a mom, a woman in menopause, a grandmother, etc? In this conversation with Dr. Rosalyn Dischiavo, founder of the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment and author of The Deep Yes: The Lost Art of True Receiving, she shares her personal and professional journey into sex education and therapy, exploring the profound intersections of sexual health, mental well-being, and personal identity. She dives into her story of overcoming infertility, pursuing a doctoral degree, and the importance of integrating pleasure and desire into our holistic health practices.
Rosalyn reflects on how societal messages, like the Madonna-whore complex and hustle culture, inhibit our ability to truly experience life’s joys like enjoying a sunset or embracing intimacy. She wants us to rethink our relationship with pleasure and provides actionable insights for cultivating deeper connections with themselves and our partners.

This is a conversation that goes beyond sex. It’s about reclaiming wholeness, honoring our bodies, and redefining how we show up in the world.

In this episode, we’re diving deep into a topic that touches all of us at some point—connection. I’m thrilled to have the lovely Dayna Sammartino join us. She’s a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a special passion for helping people build meaningful relationships.
Connection matters, especially as we grow older and life gets busier. Dayna shares her insights on how loneliness creeps in as our responsibilities pile up, and what we can do to make sure we nurture friendships.
Dayna breaks down why we sometimes feel lonely, even when we’re surrounded by people. She shares the concept of perceived loneliness, those cognitive distortions that mess with our heads, and practical tips to overcome them. From navigating social anxiety to finding community in new spaces, we cover it all.
Whether it’s a small gesture like sending a text or something more structured like joining a book club, we talk about ways to strengthen our relationships. And for those moments when you realize a relationship is more draining than fulfilling, we talk about letting them go to create space for more nurturing relationships.
Relationships need communication, effort, and alignment with our values. This episode is packed with real talk and heart-centered advice on how to cultivate authentic connections in a world that sometimes feels a little too disconnected.

Abuse can look many different ways, both overt and not. Our guest, Sybil Cummin, MA, LPC, ACS, shares her evolution working as a play therapist with children in contentious divorces to uncovering the often-overlooked dynamics of abuse dismissed by the systems at play. Our conversation lays bare the realities of narcissistic abuse, domestic violence, and the systemic gaps within family courts.
Sybil highlights the critical role of community, connection, and safety planning in the journey toward healing for anyone who's endured any amount of harm. We talk about how abuse can look many different ways and break the stereotypes that are most often portrayed. We delve into the struggles survivors endure—recognizing coercive control, overcoming post-separation abuse, and reclaiming a sense of self.
If you know someone who's suffering from abuse, or that's you yourself, or if you're a professional who stands survivors, this episode offers clarity, practical guidance, and a steadfast reminder: recovery is possible, and no one walks this path alone.

Imagine how powerful we'd all be if we stopped wasting energy on body shame and turned it toward something that truly matters. Eada Gendelman, a therapist who helps those with disordered eating is here to talk about healing our relationship with food, body, and exercise. Drawing from her own experience with an eating disorder, Eada shares how shame, societal praise for disordered behaviors, and a lack of language prevent many from seeking help. She and Stephanie discuss how cultural shifts have changed (but not solved) body image struggles and why self-compassion is the key to true healing. If you’ve ever felt stuck in a cycle of self-criticism, this conversation will inspire you to break free, reclaim your energy, and see that healing is always possible.

Grief and motherhood are closely related. One mother may grieve the relationship she had with her partner before kids, another may be grieving a miscarriage, another the loss of her identity before kids. Motherhood is a profound transformation, yet we rarely honor the grief, and healing that come with it.
Our guest Kellee Meyers shares about a ceremony for mother's that she did after her C-section births that helped her grieve and heal. The Closing the Bones ceremony is a four-hour, deeply nourishing ritual that can help any of you mother's out there process birth experiences, losses, and personal evolutions. (It doesn't matter if you had your kid 15 years ago or 3 months ago).
We talk about why so many mothers feel unseen in their struggles and how ritual can provide the witnessing and support they desperately need.
Kellee describes the power of being held both physically and emotionally, by a trusted group of women, the importance of acknowledging grief, and why receiving care is essential, not selfish. Whether you’re newly postpartum or years into your journey, this episode may be a helpful reminder that your experiences deserve to be honored. It just might change the way you think about healing in motherhood.

What if your struggles with food have nothing to do with food itself? In this episode of Redefining Us, Ashlyn Burnett, a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach, shares the powerful connection between the nervous system and our relationship with food.
Ashlyn shares how polyvagal theory explains the different states of the nervous system and how these states influence eating behaviors. From the fight-or-flight urge to restrict or obsess over food to the shutdown response that leads to binge eating and disconnection, she breaks down why so many women feel trapped in cycles of control, guilt, and emotional eating.
There is a way out though. Through nervous system regulation, inner healing, and somatic work, Ashlyn teaches how to find freedom from food where eating becomes intuitive, nourishing, and no longer a source of anxiety or shame.
